32 Hand Ejector

A LGS has had an old S&W for sale for months.

I looked at it today. I believe it is a 32 Hand Ejector Third Model.

Serial number is 278xxx. I thinking it was made in the 1912 or 13 time frame, but may be reading the catalog wrong.

Blue, about 4" barrel. Six shot.

A little wear on the bluing near the muzzle, but overall the finish is excellent for a 100 year old gun. No rust or scratches.

The grips look original, but I haven't removed them to look for serial numbers. The grips fit the gun really well -- makes me think they are original and hand fitted.

The grips aren't perfect, but very nice.

They seem to be made from some black material -- could be dark wood or some kind of 100 year old plastic or something.

They have the logo on them.

The price tag says $399 -- but the gun has been for sale for 6 months+.

What is a gun like this worth?

It's old, but I suspect there were a lot of these made so probably not rare.

You are right about the model, but it is likely from about 1917 or thereabouts. Grips are some type of hard rubber.

I can understand why it has been on the shelf for 6 months at that price. It will probably stay on the shelf awhile longer. There are just not that many prospective purchasers for such revolvers, and even most of those wouldn't be interested at that price. I'd offer maybe $250 if you REALLY want it. Carefully examine your basic motives for buying before doing anything.
