Dirty little secret that hardly gets mentioned...
The Model 16-4, cool as a cucumber, was unloved in the retail market. They did not sell for squat and a large load of them ended up being wholesaled for chump change for a stretch after the model had been discontinued.
Like the Model 547 that every buyer seems willing to drop two grand to get, the Model 16-4 languished a couple years after dropped from production and was available as new old stock for a couple three hundred bucks, box-fresh and brand new.
That these classic revolvers are so revered, loved, chased and worshipped is a (relatively) new phenomenon. And please hesitate before you label me as a hater, I am fortunate in that I have two 16-4's, both of the most common 6-inch barrel.
You never see any because the folks who have them won't part with them. There were several models, 16-4, 631, 431, 432 and probably a few others. And a few in 327 Mag such as the 632-1. They turn up occasionally but getting hard to find for less than $1200 or so. Here are some of mine.

My daily carry is a 632. Lots more fun (for me) to practice with than my equivalent-size J frames in 38 Special, although the 100g 32 Mag +P Buffalo Bores kick just as hard as the 158g 38 Special +Ps in same-size guns. I only shoot a few of 'em at any one range session.
As for Ruger 327 Federals, I think my Single Seven is a terrific size and is tolerable to shoot a fair number of the hottest 327 Fed loads through at a session. Not sure I'd want a full Blackhawk-size gun just for one more round. (There is/was a Lipsey's model with a 7.5" barrel, if you really need that length.)
Model 631 LadySmith that I found for Mrs. Duckfood last year... Only paid $425.00... They're out there...
