It looks to be a .32-20 M & P from the 1910 decade, with a modified front sight blade. Mike Priwer is the local .32 (Long) K frame expert and should be along shortly.

Thanks Alan, I asked twice about it being a 32.20 but they say .32 long. I will go in the morning for a look see. It came out of a museum in N c Arkansas to be auctioned along with a mix of military rifles.

Just in I called back and indeed it is a 32-20 they were just seeing 32 and not wcf afterwards.

Probably from right before or right after WWI (1917-19).

32 W.C.F. was the barrel marking from 1914 until sometime in 1922. So this revolver would have shipped during that period. The stocks, if original, would narrow that down a bit on the later end. This style stopped shipping very early in 1920.

I just noticed you supplied the serial number. That would, in my estimation suggest shipment immediately after WWI, and after the factory was released from government control. But, of course, only a letter can tell you for sure.

The front sight appears to have been chopped in some manner.

Based only on this photo (which isn't much to go on) I would speculate that this was originally a nickel plated revolver.

Magnifying your photo as much as possible it looks like the gun was dropped and the front sight mutilated in the process. It gets too pixilated to really see much!

Well I ended up with this 32/20 ,stock on one side cracked and poorly repaired front sight has been bubba'd but the mechanics are very smooth.
305.00 out the door I don't think I can get hurt too bad. SS 77877
