Just picked one up and wonder where a good place to start looking for bullet mold

Any suggestions as to a good bullet to cast also appreciated. Plinking and small game like rabbits.

Tom at Accurate Molds. Chose something from his web site, contact him, he will make it in any size you want. Very quick response, as well.
Your other real option is Bernie at Old West Molds. He has a catalog of the original Old West molds.

You will want to measure your cylinder mouths to know what size you need. .002" over your cylinder mouths should be the same over your groove size. Best way to do this is to get a hollow center sinker and drive it through each cylinder, measuring with a micrometer. Tap it each time to expand it back larger than the previous cylinder.

Unless you are going to shoot thousands of rounds, the Lee double cavity aluminum mold is the way to go. I have 2 molds, a .311-93-1R and a TL314-90-SWC. The 93 grain round nose mold is the most authentic, but the most accurate of the two is the SWC. I cast soft lead bullets, coat them with ALOX, and stick them in a case full of Trail Boss. Great load and more accurate than I can shoot.

I run all my other cast bullets through a sizer. I figured to get a sizer once I had gun in hand and measured. Is this not necessary with a custom mold. I always figured cast bullets had some variation as dropped from mold.

For 32 Long, I simply run my finished rounds through the sizing/decapping die without the decapping rod and they are sized just right for the chambers. Remember that you are shooting a 32 Long and not a Masterpiece target gun, unless you are shooting a K32.:D

I have great accuracy with the RCBS 32 98 swc. The Lee tl does great duty as well. I run it through a sizer with Felix lube and load it over Red Dot. It holds enough lube for those velocities.

I shoot lots of Wadcutters in .32 Long. The commercial Fiocchi loads work well, but I like, and shoot in competition, the 98gr. or 100gr. wadcutter from Lapua. The wadcutters over 1.8gr. VV 310 are fabulous in accuracy. Mine are sized .312.
I would look at one of the sites mentioned above and look for a WC bullet.

If you can find the discontinued Lyman/Ideal 313445 (SWC) and 313492 (WC) both of them are good for light loads in the 32 S&W Long, and for a heavier bullet you might try the 3118/311008 or the 311316 (may be used with or without its gas check.) These four bullets can also be used in 32 H&R and 327 Fed Mag as well with good results.

I have used Hornady 90 grain SWC, The have been on sale several times at Midway. I own a 32-20 117 gr FP Gas check Lyman mould. While a little heavy it shoots great, and works in all the 32 revolver rounds and many older 30 cal rifle rounds too (and 30 carbine). If I had only one bullet mould this would e it! Ivan

I got a box of 1000 of Speer HBWC, and they have proved very accurate. One good thing is not a tremendous # of people load the 32, and bullets are normally in stock, and tot too expensive.
