Like shooting a 22 with 38 range bullets. Very nice with tactical 158's in 357. Haven't tried the 180gr yet.
PC did a great job. DA is smooth as silk, but subtlely let's you know right at the break point. SA is one of the best I've ever felt.
Most accurate revolver I've owned, maybe a tie with model 19 U.S. secret service. Yes, I shoot it.
I have a couple of questions I would appreciate help with.
1). Where can I find front night sights that will fit?
I think they might be gun specific, but I'm not sure.
2). What are some good holsters and where can I find them?
Would prefer suede lined, but not a must.
I saw a holster on here, but for the life of me, can't find the thread now.
What do you other R8 or TRR8 owners use? I know there's about 50 of us.
Thanks in advance.
Stay safe,
Jim

Hello??
No one has a holster or night sights for their 327's?
I know the Smith case is nice, but I'm having a hard time keeping it on my belt, and the draw is a little slow.
I can do a web search for makers, but it's so much nicer to get advice from someone that's actually used the product.
I'm completely lost when it comes to night sights for a revolver. Does anyone not use their 327 for home protection?
I could really use a hand here ladies and gentlemen.........
Thanks again,
Jim

What CT grips did you get on your 327 ? how do you like them ? I just ordered some LG -314 for my R8 .

I've grown to like the bead front sight.

I use mine for ICORE with a Safariland 002 holster. Not really the choice for normal carry.

I put a Miculek spring kit in it. Didn't touch anything else. It's light for a 5" N frame, but not really all that light. Still heavy enough to be easy to handle with 38 special loads.

I bought the only set of CT that fit the gun several years ago, red laser. I have zero memory of the model number. There might be green ones available now. I think the Crimson Trace lasergrips significantly enhance the gun as a self defense carry piece. They are also great for dry fire practice - the trigger pull errors are very visible. I also like the instinctive activation, nothing extra to think about, just grasp the revolver in a normal grip and the laser goes on, but it is easy enough to hold the gun so that the laser is not activated. After all, lasers go both ways.

8 shots of the mighty .357 magnum, plus laser sights, makes not only a great carry piece, but also a fine home protection gun. However, due to the light weight of the 327, it is not that much fun to fire with full power .357 magnum loads. OTOH, "fun" is not an issue when confronting an intruder.

Why use full-house 357s for SD? 125 Gr Gold Dot 38 Sp +P will do just fine and are rather soft shooting in the 327.

Collects,
Thanks for the information, I appreciate it.
I've got CT grips on the way!
I keep it on my night stand with 8 Buffalo Bore 38spl+P 158gr soft cast LSWCHP-GC's.
Should come out at about 1200fps from the 5 inch barrel.
What do you keep in yours?
Stay safe,
Jim

I use CR Speed for holster and FO front with Weigand rear. Had mine cut for moons and that makes shooting a lot more enjoyable since it cuts down reloading time by about 99%.

Edit: should of added mine is a PD not TRR.

Hi ede,
The TRR8 is already cut and moon clips come with it.
I'm not sure what CR and FO stand for, so I can look them up.
Does anyone know if the front sights are configured the same way on the PD and TRR8? I know the TRR8 just pull back and lift up to remove.
Thanks,
Jim

Universally that is not good advice.

You live in FLORIDA. The intruder entering your door in the middle of Winter is wearing a T-shirt and wind breaker. A 38+P might be acceptable

The person you are advising lives in NORTH East Ohio. The intruder entering his door in the middle of Winter is wearing a denim shirt and heavy leather jacket. Full Magnum loads are called for.

Additionally, who cares how soft the revolver is shooting when your life is on the line?

Why would you not want to be using the round that is #1 in one shot stops in all of recorded shooting history if your firearm is capable of chambering it?

Are you truly satisfied that the #15th or 16th best one shot stopper is what you want to be defending your life with?

Your revolver uses the IFS(Interchagable Front Sight) that S&W has been using for decades.

I do not have tritium on my TRR8, but I do have them on one of my 627s. SDM is where I got my front sight from, the rear is a Meprolight. But there are lots of sources. You could also take a front sight that you like and send it off to have a tritium lamp installed.

CR Speed is company name, no idea what CR might stand for. FO is fiber optic. Yes it was a stupid move for S&W not to cut the PD for moons. Cost me 200$ to get done. Need to work on reducing trigger pull now and maybe can take it to some gun games soon.

My post was not offered as advise. Perhaps I should start putting a disclaimer at the bottom of everything. The poster mentioned the recoil and I simply asked why not use another proven round. The other issue is the heavy muzzle blast and flip from the 125Gr .357 which make follow up shots very difficult at best. If the room is dark you will be shooting blind after the first shot. I actually feel quite confident with 8 rounds of Speer Gold Dot .38+P. (Just my opinion)

Sorry for misinterpreting your post.

However the text above did not end with a question mark, you ended with a period. That is why your fellow Forum members are taking what you said as a statement.

Part of the point of choosing ammunition that has a proven track record of one shot stops is the lack of needing a second shot.

Muzzle flash is a function of powder choice, not caliber. Premium ammunition (major companies not boutiques) that most folks choose for defensive purposes has flash retardant added to the powder. The reduces or eliminates muzzle flash. Cheap white/yellow/green box entry level or foreign ammunition that is intended for practice/training does not contain this because the goal is to save money.

I can assure you you will not be shooting blind after discharging a full power 357 magnum under subdued lighting. But you should not believe me, try this for yourself, see if your local indoor range will allow some night drills to be run. Perhaps on an off day or as they close. I have gone through these dozens of times myself as well as having been involved in a 3AM alley shooting. Just remember to be using your defensive ammunition an not your bargain training/practice ammunition.

Thank you gentelmen that gave me pertinent information for the holster and sights.
marshal and sannow, really?
Stay safe always,
Jim
