A German Mountain rifle that seems,in certain parts, to be refinished but I'm glad to have it. You don't see that many in "decent" condition with all their parts. When I first saw it, it looked like a toy rifle.
Contrary to what people say, I enjoy shooting it (Remington 8 mm ammunition). It fits like a glove in your arms very comforitable.
Thanks for looking, (It would make a nice deer rifle.)
Joe

Thats in nice shape. Always wanted one of those, but it was always a "pricey" gun. 30 years ago they were around $400. Now they are close to $2500-$3000?? Still too pricey for me.

Very nice, since the Germans went to so much trouble to make them as light as possible, many of the bring backs were turned
into sporters in the 50-60's. They do thump you some though.
Hope you leave it as it is, nice piece of history.

It's a development of the Czech Vz.33 police carbine. A friend has one of those that was Yugoslav arsenal reworked and remarked.

They're very handy, but also VERY exciting to shoot. Muzzle flash with Prvi Partizan/Hansen 198gr. ball is memorable.

We never were able to to figure out where his was shooting.

Thirty-five years ago when I was going to gunsmithing school G33/40 Mausers were highly sought after. I acquired one from a fellow student and before I could decide what kind of custom rifle to build with it, I let another student talk me into selling it. Even back then ones in the condition of your rifle were almost never seen, you have a real prize there. Shoot it and enjoy it.

I may be wrong but the butt plate was to prevent the stock from being broken when on rocky terrain? It's a very light rifle.
I also saw pictures of German paratroopers carrying the 33/40.
