Have a kit gun marked as a 34-1 , serial number is 85479 with no M . It came with diamond magnas . It has a pinned barrel and recessed chambers . Blued and 4" . Any idea when it would have shipped . Got it in new condition about 20 years ago with box and all documents and I believe it has the screwdriver, brush and rod as well. Don't have a picture handy or I would post one .

Based on reported serial numbers/ship dates, it would be from the first half of the 1960 decade. 1963-64 would be a good guess.

The Models 34 and 35 used the same serial sequence. Neither was a hot seller so ship dates can be a bit erratic. The dash 1 of both models appeared in 1960. That's one hard data point. The other is the appearance in 1968-69 of the M prefix.

If you must know, buy a letter. :)

Not much of a picture but I did have one . As you can see it now has a few miles on it and was run over by my F100 a few years ago ,still shoots straight .

The Kit Guns are fun to own and shoot. Good grouse-getters too!

Here's a picture of two among the several that live at my house:

I used to have both round and square butt 34s, with 4" barrels, down to just one RB now. My experience of them as grouse getters was that they weren't accurate enough for head shots past about 10 yards, and that body shots (base of the wings) might or might not anchor them. Best ammo I found for that duty was the Winchester Silhouette shaped like a LSWC (hollow points were too destructive). Far too many grouse were able to get up and sail down into brush choked canyons, full of old logging slash. Total PITA finding them. So in a way, the 34s were good teachers about what worked, and what didn't, for shooting grouse with a revolver. I eventually went to a Model 31-1 .32 S&W Long for grouse, and later still, a 60-10 3" (with very mild loads). The wider bullets simply killed better. But I will say that the 34s are probably the most fun plinkers and teaching revolvers out there; the grandkids love them!
