Put around 100 rounds of +P and standard pressure loads (no .357) down range today and discovered I really enjoy shooting this little gun. It's surprisingly accurate, for me anyway, out to 7 yards and pretty easy to make follow up shots as long as I have a firm grip.

I shot a paper plate drill, something I like to do w/my carry gun. Using a standard paper plate @ three, five & seven yards I empty the gun as fast as possible, reload w/a speed loader and repeat. If I keep all 10 rounds on the plate, and experience no malfunctions, I call it good.

I do the same drill out to 10 yards. Then some steel plates at 25 yards slow fire. It's surprising how accurate these little guns can be.

I also run the paper plate drill w/my LCP using one seven and one six round mag.

The owner of my LGS who is X Israeli special forces drops his eyes to the ground shakes his head and says "thats brutal" whenever I mention my 340pd.

During my LEO Firearms Instructor duties, I qualified several several officers with this revolver as an off duty weapon. Aside from the pain, I also noted that the second cylinder of rounds would sometimes be nearly impossible to eject until the revolver was allowed time to cool.

I've had that problem w/magnum rounds but never .38 or .38 +P.

I love mine as well. As you said, it's a surprisingly good shooter if you can steel yourself against the recoil.

100 rounds in a session is the top end if what I can tolerate and that'd with 38s.

I cylinder of even lighter .357s will cut me up. I figure in a fight I won't mind but I can't say practice is enjoyable.

I too will carry and spend some practice time at the range with my 340PD. I put Hogue Tamer Grips on the beast and they help tremendously. But does engage the overall size a bit.

Well said. I have a love/hate (mostly love) relationship with mine. I do find that the laser grips give me not only a laser, but also great padding on the on the hand.
