After receiving several answers it seems that this indeed is a factory parts pistol. All the markings are correct and everything matches the frame, without any markings to show it was a factory rework or repair. The barrel matches my model 34, so guess factory had some 35 frames and no more 6" 35 barrels so they just used the barrels. Nice unfired pistol, but it would have never completed with the K 17 for any target work.

Just imagine using a 6” .22 Hand Ejector (Ladysmith) Target!

Those thrifty Yankee gun makers wanted to use the minimum amount of steel to make their guns. This is why the .22/32 was originally called the “Heavy Frame Target”. They would have fainted at the sight of an 8 3/8” full lug barrel model 617.

What leads you to believe it was factory work instead of some enterprising owner with a four inch barrel and a gunsmith with some tools? Pictures? And welcome to the Forum.

Welcome to the forum.
Since a 35-1 does not have the serial number on the bottom of the barrel there’s no way to tell the 4” barrel is original to the gun unless you have a factory letter stating it left the factory with it.
