Recently picked up a 351c .... now I know why people seem to think new springs and some polishing are "standard requirements" .... any suggestions what a good set of springs might be weight wise? .... mfr? ....Thanks ....

Depends on how the gun is going to be used. If used for carry, changing the spring weights may not be a good idea.

The "use caution" disclaimer being out of the way, with some minor work on the internals, you should be able to use the standard "PC" setup, which is an 8 pound hammer spring and a reduced power rebound spring......usually 14 pounds. These springs are available from Wolff, Apex, and Wilson....among others.

If you decide to make a change, be sure to test thoroughly with your carry ammo, and keep the gun as clean as possible.

Please remember.....lighter springs always reduce the margin for error (reliability) in terms of dirt, lubricants and weather condition influences.

I tried the spring kit in my 351 PD, which is the hammer version of your revolver, and they did not work reliability. What I ended up doing was buying a extra mainspring for the gun (rimfires use a different mainspring), cutting coils until it started misfiring in DA, then cut the original spring a little longer. I then started reducing the trigger return spring weight to what felt good to me, and was 100% reliable returning the trigger. I also installed a C&S extra length firing pin.
Last, but NOT least, if you are using this gun for self defense I recommend using the Hornady Critical Defense load (22 mag), AND firing at least a box of these loads DA to see if they are 100%.
One last comment, you will never get the action of a S&W rimfire revolver as light as a centerfire revolver, rimfires just need more hammer force to fire.

I like the Wilson Combat kit for just about any J-frame. I have that kit in my 317 kit gun (as well as many others) and it works perfectly.

The 317 is a 22lr while the 351 is a 22 magnum. The wall/case thickness can be 20% thicker on the 22 magnum.
