I own a new in box 3566 compact in .356 TSW. I also obtained a 9mm Barrel from Scott Sullivan. I have ammo and brass for the .356 TSW. But, I'm uncertain what recoil spring(s) could be used to replace the dual springs should they wear out; or for the 9mm conversion.

I did contact S&W and they were no help at all. I provided the serial number and they actually said they no longer have any specs for the gun.

Can anyone provide any information?

Thanks all!

3566 Compact recoil springs

Congrats on your 3566 Compact! Did you just get it?

I have a 3566 Limited & reload for it. The 356TSW is an awesome round.

I'm assuming the dual nested recoil springs for your PC Compact are the same ones used in the standard production compacts (4013, 4013TSW, 4040PD, 4516-2, etc) ??

Got any pictures of it assembled & disassembled you can share showing them ?

I believe S&W has been keeping the dual nested recoils in inventory though in the past they've been out.

Another essentially exact replacement would be SPRINCO's dual nested recoil spring (#45162) for the standard production pistols. (See picture below)

Since the dual nested recoil springs are on the "skinny" guide rods (~.239" dia) another option would be the ISMI flat recoil spring for G***ks, as they have an appropriate sized core diameter (~.265").

They come in many different strengths. I've used/tried the ISMI GLC-18, -20 & -22 springs in a couple different 3rd Gens. The number is supposed to be the poundage weight.

After doing a home test on the ISMI flat spring (GLC-22) I found they weren't as strong as I had hoped & that the S&W, or SPRINCO, dual nested springs had a little more force. (See attached test below)

Though if you're wanting a lighter recoil spring setup to use with the 9x19 Briley barrel & light loads, the ISMI might be just what you're wanting?

NDZ Performance (& others) carries them. Looks like the GLC (compacts) springs come in 13#, 15#, 18#, 20#, & 22# ratings.

You could buy some & experiment with your loads to find the best one.

The ISMI GLC-22 flat spring has less max. force than the SPRINCO dual spring
(which is essentially identical to the S&W dual spring in force)

Thanks so much for the great info. I'll try to get a few pictures. Actually, I bought the pistol new and it was tucked away in the back of the safe until recently became interested in the .356. Pics coming.......

IF YOUR GOING TO SHOOT IT WITH THE 9MM BARREL INSTALLED. SHOOTING 9MM LOADS A STANDARD 6906 RECOIL SPRING IS WHAT YOU SHOULD BE USING. FOR THE 9MM 3.5" BARREL MODELS IT'S A 15 LB SPRING. JP

Thank you! They are easy enough to find!

Those are the single recoil spring style on the larger .290" FLGR.

No issues with the single larger diameter spring on the smaller diameter FLGR?
