.357 ammo...$60 per hundred???

After reading some other posts re: Wal-Mart finally having some ammo, I checked in with my local unit today, and there, sitting on the shelf, were 2 WW white boxes of .357 'personal defense' ammo....ie 110 grain hollow point. But I took em both,....... however, at check-out, I noticed the final total for the two boxes was $59+... At 60 cents a pop, no wonder the shortage is coming to an end.

I guess I've lost my mind!!!

If people like me haven't convinced you to start reloading, perhaps those prices will. My next step is to start casting bullets.

Save all your brass, save all your wheel weights (while you can), and pick up/save any lead you can readily pick up at the range (if your range allows it)

Once you start reloading, you will probably get bitten by the casting bug too. I'm glad I started saving all the lead I shoot at the range by making a cheap bullet trap. I have enough lead to cast up another 10k rounds...that's if I didn't recapture my practice rounds. Looking at the slim pickins online for bullets (and primers) I'm glad I saved my lead and got bullet molds.

Wish I had squirreled away more primers, but I've been able to trade my cast bullets for another 5k primers (2500 from 2 different friends) So it pays to have as many friends in the reloading community as possible who won't screw you on component prices when you might be running low.

I'm waiting to start seeing cars in parking lots having their hub caps pulled. Not to steal the hub caps, but the wheel weights!

Got two in one of my tool boxes!
The state government out here did the same thing. In fact, before the last governors/presidential race the state EPA was trying to ban lead from ammo justifying it by saying they were banning it for wheel balancing as well. I wrote a less than complimentary letter to environmental about it, in which I accused them of using it as back door small arms ammo control. In their response, they began crowing about how they'd convinced (coerced) the largest tire/wheel outfit in the state, into now using ONLY steel wheel weights. No doubt, getting the state's contract had a bit to do with their choice of wheel weight materials? Anyway, I wrote back to them that I appreciated their informing me of what company had knuckled under to their intimidation. So as too allow me to make sure I never frequented the establishment.
