Greetings all,

I've stumbled upon this .357 Highway Patrolman (no model), serial S112103, 4" barrel, and these very unique (hand made?) grips. Dude must have had a HUGE right hand!
Any help identifying a manufacture date would be great.
Any explanation of the grips would be a bonus! LOL!

THanks,
Dave

Looks like some one used it in BullsEye Compitition maybe.
All Highway Patrolman were .357, at least originally.
That later became the model 28, so yours is probably an early one.

They resemble Sile, but the flares are a bit more radical, and they probably wouldn't carry the S&W medallions. My guess would be custom job.

There is one under the rear of the grips (another flat head). No where else for the one you see to go.

Grips are custom made for sure- and a VERY nice job. Not my stile - but very well crafted. They look completed to me with a nice color stain rubbed on. They even had the S&W logo installed! Couldn't guess who made them.

The only flat head screw in the side plate should be under the grips. The one exposed is incorrect and should be replaced with a rounded head type - if you want it to look more original.

Nice gun!

Great old "service" revolver. I find the idea it was used for Bullseye competition kind of odd, but folks do odd stuff all the time. All that aside, a clean 5-screw N-frame is always a good acquisition (IMO).

Well, I have solved your problem Dave. Remove them, drop them into a Postage Paid package, and send them to me. That will take care of the curiosity and allow you to sleep at night knowing they are in good hand... hand..., get it? LOL

You never really said it was yours! There are so many things you can do with stocks! I have a 28 no dash from 1960. It is a 6". Has S&W Diamond Targets on it now. Had Herrett targets on it before. Bob
