If I am re loading for the same pistol and my dies are set to resize 357 cases, do I have to set the dies for 38 special cases or can I just change the bullet seating depth? I believe that if I use the same weapon the cases should be fine if they are not totally resized.

the sizing die will remain the same, but the expander die and the seating crimp die will have to be adjusted, there is 1/10 of an inch difference. someone used to make spacer rings to use with you dies so no adjustment was need.
all cases will need sized fully as there is differences between the chamber on any revolver.

My RCBS die set came with 2 spacer rings to raise the expander and seater dies for .357. Don't know if they still make them.

My Lee die instructions specify backing out the bullet seating die and the expanding die 1 3/4 extra turns to load 357. They are 7/8 x 14 dies.

Most Lyman pistol die sets come with the spacers, so I'm sure they will sell them seperately, too. They could be easily made if you have the wherewithal to do it.
The 38/357 die set comes with the 0.134" spacer (to compensate for the .357 Magnum case when dies are adjusted for the .38 Spl) and the 0.060" spacer to raise the roll crimp off the case mouth.
The other option is to readjust the die locknut on the seater/crimp and flaring dies when you switch between calibers.
