Perusing the Net yesterday and ran across a nice box of # R264 158 Gr. Metal Point ammo. Still had the Oil Proof factory tape around it.
Been looking for this ammo for a few years to go with my 30's HD shipped to Wolf & Klar.
I know this stuff is extremely scarce and very expensive. I paid a bunch for it as I have never seen a box of it for sale. Just pictures. Now, maybe I can sleep at night.
Sorry, no pics., but there are many already on this Forum. What is this stuff really worth? Big Larry

Appears to be period-correct for the 1930's. I have no idea
what the going rate on the collector's market is, but I would guess at least several hundred if in high condition. If you know the lot code, I can date it for you.

Thank you Sir, but I got pics of all sides except the one with the lot number. This stuff is super scarce, maybe rare.
Goes for much more than a couple hundred, but there isn't any around for sale. Big Larry

It's worth anything a collector will pay for it. Out of curiosity, are you gonna take a pic of the HD and the box of 38-44 together. That would be something to have on file IF you ever decide to sell them to someone as a package deal, cause they pay you a price that you just can't turn away from.

I sell guns together with ammo if I can find it. but generally you don't find the early ammo to go with the age of the gun. I'm taking a mid 20s S&W 32-20(to the gun show today) but the box of ammo is from about 1960. That old ammo is truly hard to find. Most of the ammo I have from the 30-40s is generally shotshell, military or 22 rimfire. Post a pic of your gun and ammo together when you get the ammo.

I cannot post pics.
A box of period 32-20 pistol ammo was obtained from the world renown Ray Giles who has helped me in the past with hard to find ammo. I have a beautiful M&P M1905 4th change in 32-20 from the 20's.
One of the hardest boxes I found, was period Remington Dog Bone in 44 Special. Thanks, Big Larry

I'm proud just to have an empty box for my 38/44.

Nice collection. I have three that are the same as yours. One of my scarcer boxes is my sealed 1916 vintage Rem. UMC 44 Special. Same date as my 1916 vintage TL.
I also have a sealed box of pre WW1 .38 S&W for my 1917 vintage Regulation Police.
I think I put more time in looking for ammo than guns. I
also collect vintage rifle ammo and also 22 boxes. Big Larry

I have, I think, three near-perfect full boxes of Western Super-X .38 Special packed away somewhere. Seems like they were from the late 1940s. It has been a long time since I have seen them.
The early Remington boxes call them .38-44 S&W Special, later became .38 Special Hi-Speed. Peters called them High Velocity. Western used Super-X, while Winchester called them Super Speed.
There were also metal penetrating bullets of several different designs available for the .38-44. They are not armor piercing, mainly intended for use against automobiles.

larryofcc, why can't you post pics? If you're having trouble there are many members here who can help you.

First off, I am computer illiterate. A few folks here have tried to help, but I need the instructions step by step for this 79 year old brain.
I used to post pics here when I had one of those folks that host pics. They went belly up.
Is there another site for this? Many thanks, Big Larry
