There are several craftsmen who can repair the grip chip, and indeed, plan on about $100 for that service. It would be almost essential to refinish them also, and to freshen the checkering. Therefore, they are no longer original. For less, you can likely find an undamaged pair of period-correct grips in at least the same condition.Again, not original, but close enough. I have found that most of the 1920s grips (which have penciled SNs) have illegible or invisible SNs anyway. I have two pairs, like new, neither of which have any evidence of a SN (even in bright light with a magnifying glass).
