I may FINALLY be able to shoot up the rest of this old box?

If you believe the trial testimony in the Vince Marinello trial, Nyclads were around at least a couple of years ago, testimony was that old Vince went to Elliot's in Jefferson Parish and asked for a "box of the good stuff" and they gave him a box of Nyclads-Same type of bullet they dug out of his late estranged wife's face.
Old Vince is scheduled to be sentenced to Life in January.

FYI for any of you who is planning to off the old lady-do NOT leave your "to do" list regarding the murder in your FEMA trailer for the cops to find-bad juju for sure and it makes the poor defense lawyer's lot harder than it has to be

I know the "Offing the old lady" remark was supposed to be humorous. However, those of us who love shooting sports and firearms have enough public relatlions problems without remarks of this sort. Sorry, but in my opinion that joking remark is in bad taste.
I am not looking for an argument and mean no disrespect. I have simply stated my opinion for your consideration.

Guess I'm not the only one that has been depending on the box and a half or so I have left, rat-holed for about 5 years, shooting only enough the 5-15 rounds I've been carrying to refresh ammo when I re-qualify.
Wow, found a LEFTY DeSantis Apache ankle holster and bought it today, today must be my 642's lucky day.

I LOVE that NYCLAD stuff! Glad it's coming back. That blue color really stands out - no - wait - that's just wrong.

Hmmm...wonder if they decided to reintroduce the Nyclad when copper was through the roof? I also wonder if it will be cheaper than copper jacketed stuff.....and, available in 50 round boxes....naw.

When did it become fashionable to sell ammo in designer boxes of 20 rounds anyway? Twenty round boxes are useless for me.

Glad its back though, I always liked the Nyclad ammo...

I guess when it got up to a buck or so a round for good quality self-defense rounds.

I'm very grateful that the department takes care of most of my carry ammo requirements...but Nyclads for the snub were never in inventory.

So noted. But my remark about "offing the old lady" had noting whatsoever to do with the method or instrumentaliy used-but instead was directed to the caveat regarding not leaving your "to do" list for the "po-po" to find.

Cool! The Nyclad ammo is good stuff. I wonder if they'll bring back the 9mm load too?

This may seem like a stupid question.I know Nyclad ammo was used in the past for snub nosed 38 revolvers but what made that particular round so good and coveted? I have never seen a Nyclad round before ....Thanks Mike

Geez...

rd

were they originally designed as a coating to reduce airborn lead at indoor ranges? i also heard that the first ones had a bit thicker coating of Nylon on 'em and wouldn't hold any clear striations making them hard or impossible to identify in ballistics testing. later i think it became a way to use dead soft lead without leading up the barrel. i think the silvertip was along the same line of thinking, a lightweight bullet to get the most velocity out of the snub with just a thin excuse for a jacket so it might be able to expand. i have a soft spot for federal ammo because i think they have good quality control, and i like the Nyclad bullets and have a couple of boxes of 158gr +p's squirreled away somewhere but in reality it is mostly because they're blue and look neato.
nothing wrong with variety, and it's always good to see forum members get their wishes from manufacturers
Regards,
Rich

I had a Belgian Hi power that fed only Nyclad hollow points exclusively, and no other hollow point.

The thinking at the time was the nylon enabled Federal to use a softer lead, thereby allowing better expansion.

I have never shot Nyclad but the performance pic for the linked article does not look too impressive.

BTW, the Speer Gold Dot and Remington Golden Saber each look great if you rely on gelatin testing.

I think this is the right direction for Federal to go. More and more people are buying Airweight revolvers instead of steel ones, and figuring out how hard it is to control one with +P ammunition. I know I'll be getting some for my 37-2.
