38 +P Headshots

Many years ago i investigated an execution style murder in the Florida Everglades where a guy was shot in the back of the head with a 357. Slug did not exit, but went thru and lodged in the front of his head. Powder burns on the back indicated he was shot at close range. Must have been a real short barrel or a bad round.

Another LEO I was working with shot a BG on the point of the chin at about 7 feet with the famed 38 FBI load. Bullet hit chin, skidded around the mandable (lowwer jaw) and stopped up by the ear at the TM joint. BG looked at him and said "what you do dat fur". A chest shot would have killed the man.

I do know for a fact, that an adult male can be shot with a 4" 357 Mag with Winchester 145gr Silver Tip, the barrel pressing against the skin, under his chin, directed straight up toward the top of his head, and the bullet will not exit...

The shootee will be dead...
