Your 38 Safety Hammerless, 5th Model was shipped from the factory in the mid-1920s. As you can tell from your serial number, there were a ton of this model revolver manufactured by S&W and only high condition guns sell for much money.
Yours looks like the surface is heavily worn, with most of the sharp edges rounded over. The cylinder flutes, for example, should have very sharp edges if original high condition. It almost looks like there is no finish on the gun, unless it is a very frosty re-nickel. Keep it as a family heirloon, enjoy it and pass it down through the family.
