Has anyone on the forum used Missouri Bullet Co. 146 gr for .38 S&W?

I have been using a 158 gr RN from a Magma mold sized to .359.

I would like to duplicate the 146 grain factory loading.

Since Missouri Bullet does not have a crimping grove I have question regarding best way to crimp.

Taper crimp or light roll crimp?

A roll crimp and if the bullets slip under recoil, crimp a little heavier. I doubt you'll find a taper crimp die for that cartridge.

I have been using a Lee Factory Crimp die on a few efforts to reload .38S&W, I usually find the result satisfying with the LFC die, not as pretty as a roll crimp but satisfactory. I've been fooling around with .218 Bee lately and messed a few up with a roll crimp die, factory crimp solves that problem. I ran across some old school Remington 158gr. black alox coated bullets in original cardboard boxes and have been running those through my 38S&W revolver, black powder and smokeless and find them working well.

I have a lot of Missouri Bullets .357 cast, coated, bullets in various weights. I use them for .38 and .357. If you have any data that states overall length, or some originals to measure, use that for your seating depth. I would taper crimp, but it they slip under recoil, roll crimp.

38 S&W

Thank you all for your replies. I will give the Missouri Bullet 146gr a try with a light roll crimp.

I have put a few hundred round each through my early S&W BSR and Colt Police Positive.

These are nice shooting revolvers and this round is easy to reload for once you get started.

I load the 146gr Missouri .361 for my Terrier and use the crimp die that comes with the Lee die set. I'm loading very mild loads and have never had an issue. They're very good quality bullets and shoot with very good accuracy.
