Serial number 182033 shipped June 12, 1905 to Simmons Hardware Company, St. Louis Missouri.
Blue finish, 2-inch barrel, forged round blade front sight and black hard rubber stocks.
Now nickel (not factory refinish). When I got it, it wore a pair of J frame diamond Magnas. Found some stocks from a .38 D A that fit. Looks a lot better.

Just received the Standard Catalog of Smith & Wesson, 5th Edition. My gun was refinished and not very well. Reading the condition evaluation section I think the gun is probably Fair. Says $135.
Have a letter stating that it was a special order 2" barrel. Book says High Premium for short barrel guns.
What do y'all think this one is worth?
Any help appreciated.

I would pay $200-375 for a refinished non cut 2" barrel gun without a letter depending how the finish looks. The letter to me would add $75 value. That might be on the low end because I see refinished standard barrel guns going for $350-500 on Gunbroker randomly while better examples go for the same or less so I think it's a crapshoot.

*edit to add I just realized this is not an antique, the prices I gave were for pre1898. I would lower the value by $50 for a post 1898 but the demand seems to be less for those.
