My pistol has non oem smooth walnut grips. Oem would be black checkered but I like checkered walnut. Are there any other S&Ws that have the same grip size that I can use as a donor for replacement grips?

38 SA, 2nd Model used smooth walnut stocks on blued guns and hard rubber on nickel guns as standard. Of course, if ordered I would guess you could get either material stocks on both finishes. The stocks remained the same throughout the rest of the 38 Double Action run and were also used on all pre-WWII I frame 32 Hand Ejectors ande 38 Perfected revolvers.

Double Action Top-breaks

Often they came with special grips like Pearl, Ivory, bone, etc....There are more than one early Smith & Wesson top-break out there with Off brand grips on them. Especially ivory, bone, and Pearl. Checkered wood grips also. It's also often near impossible to tell where the special grips actually originated. Iver Johnson and Harrington and Richardson top-breaks in 38 cal have near an identical grip frame during the Antique era. Later guns are not. Different grip frame also on their solid frame revolvers, however the early topbreaks? I've seen them with Smith and Wesson grips on them and they fit really well. I've also seen Iver Johnson and Harrington & Richardson grips on Smith & Wesson topbreaks...and they actually fit well. So, special grips like checkered wood, ivory, pearl, bone would also be the same result. Who knows what frame they originally came off of.
