.38 Special at Cabelas

Just purchased 3 boxes of .38 Special online from Cabela's for $19.99 each in case anyone else is looking. That's the same price and ammo (Remington UMC .38 Special 130 gr FMJ) that I paid for the one time I was able to find it at Wal-Mart. Of course I also had to pay shipping in this case which was $8.95. But, if someone came up to me and said "Hey, for $8.95 I'll save you all those fruitless trips to check Wal-Mart and deliver this ammo to your door" I would do it in a heartbeat.

A week ago I received my order for .357 Magnum, and .38 Special +P in 2 days with standard shipping (I may have gotten lucky). Not hoarding by any stretch, but now I'll be guaranteed to have a few hundred rounds to try out when my 686 Plus finally comes in.

Um, well that didn't take very long. I just looked at Cabela's site again and they're not even showing these anymore. I'm pretty sure my 3 boxes didn't empty them out. Sorry, if I got anyone's hopes up too soon. On the other hand I'm hoping the reason they're out now is because some of you were able to get a hold of them...

Right now the story is buy ammo if you see it and need it and it's not priced over the top like double or triple the normal cost because it may be a while before you see anymore.

Sounds like good advice. I can't say I "need" it just yet, but I'm sure that sentiment will change as soon as I finally get a chance to start firing off the ammo that I do have.
