Let’s see your Ithaca, Colt, Remington Rand or USS&S WWII 1911a1

Thanks I did not know that. They are bakelite material (a type of early plastic used in the 1930s and 1940s) hopefully that won’t happen. Perhaps I should leave them on the pistol and only replace if I take to the range?

They shrink on the gun also, as long as stored properly they are good.

I wish I had photos of a US&S I once had... it was a Naval officer bring back.. complete with white lanyard holster belt magazines & pouches... 98% or better shape.. black barrel... traded it to a friend... his son has it now.. all is good.. just wish I had photos... maybe some day

I bought this 1943 all original Colt from another member of our range . He got it from a family member and the story is it was never issued . Taking it apart I have to agree , if it was shot it was very little . Had to throw in my GCNM Super Elite 38super , 1 of 750 .
