You opinions please. Would any of you not shoot the following load out of a Model 19: 10.0 gr. 2400, 38 special case using a standard primer and a 158 gr. lead semi-wadcutter bullet. Thanks.

According to my RCBS Cast Bullet Manual #1, 1986 copyright that is a max load for .38 special (they specify CCI 250 magnum primer). A model 19 is designed for .357 magnum pressures which are nearly twice that of .38 special.

I agree. Since that load does not approach the pressures generated by a .357 Magnum load there is no reason not to shoot it in a .357 Magnum revolver.

I think you are ok with 10.0 grains. I have loaded 13.5 gns. of 2400 with a cast Lyman 358156/gas checked SWC crimped on the top grease groove. One of Skeeter's loads.

Keith, I just got a 19-3 recently and I wouldn't hesitate to shoot 13.5 gr of 2400 with the bullet you want to use, or even a 358429 at 170 gr with the same load.

A 2" barrel may make a lot of muzzle flash with 2400, so I'd probably opt for different powder with less flash, if 2400 presents a problem with flash.

Not much on the "K" frame magnums for shooting lots of heavy loads through but, there is no reason not to shoot them as all have said.

Paul, the only reason I posted in this thread is because of your picture. Now THAT is one nice looking snubbie! I think I need one! :)

I just got through loading a box of 125 gr Golden Sabers in .38 Special brass to try in that 19-3 and a 27-2. Just a good old Speer #8 load. ;)
