Hi. I am clueless. I inherited a S&W 38 special ctg model 15-3 with 4 inch barrel. I think it may be stainless and has wood grips. The serial number,I think, is k883828. Does anybody know how old this gun is and how much it is worth?

Your S&W Model 15 is the Combat Masterpiece
Based on the medium or "K" frame.
They were not stainless, but available in blued or nickle finish.
It is, without a doubt one of the best revolvers ever made by S&W.
It has a very long history of law enforcement and military useage and is a dependable, accurate weapon. Many of us here have several in our collections.
Your gun will handle all commercially available .38 Special ammunition with no problem.
The stainless steel version is the Model 67, introduced in 1974
