Do all the Model 39 S &W full sized pistols take the same magazines?
I have a 39-2 I inherited a coupls of years ago and need to buy a couple more magazines.
What do the prices run, and are they still made?

Yep, the 3904/3906 magazines work just fine and have one additional round, but stick out past the bottom of the grip panels of the 39/x39 pistols. You can find 39 and 39-2 magazines with some frequency on eBay. Expect to pay around $40 each.

You may also see magazines offered by Triple-K, avoid them. S&W made countless tens of thousands of original magazines, don't trust any that aren't S&W marked.

Avoid Triple-K and Pro-Mag. Pro-Mag's are available everywhere and are cheap, but they are usually poor quality and prone to malfunction.

This thread has some good info.

Some 39 series magazine musings

The original 39 had a metal follower and in the early production of the model 39-2 there was a switch to a polymer follower. The model 39-2 and 439 mags were the same. The 3904 might have shipped with a blued magazine but I've never seen one. Most later 3rd generation S&W were shipped with stainless steel magazine to streamline production.

MecGar sells magazines under their own name and was the OEM contractor for many of S&W OEM magazines.

And are the only non 1911 aftermarket pistol mag I trust as much as i trust OEM mags, since they ARE OEM for so many pistols.

Not saying I haven't had other aftermarket mags that weren't as reliable as OEM. I just wouldn't trust my life to them like I would OEM or Mec-Gar.
