I suspect "some" of this upswell is do to YOU "gmborkovic". :D

Again thanks for sharing your knowledge and passion here with all of us.

You are relentlessly keeping your records and posts current. I am lucky in that I've had both of my 39's, (-2 excellent/box/stuff and a perfect but maybe not original nickel -2, ((?,)) for some time now. I'd have a hard time paying what they are selling for now and probably wouldn't buy one.

I thought at the time I'd paid too much for the blued -2 w/3 mags for $500.00 flat. (My upper limit back then was $400.00.) The mags are worth something as two are still wrapped in the original paper and have apparently never been loaded/inserted.

It seems that gold and S&W's can be a very good investment.

All of the First through Third Generation S&W semiautos seem to have been "discovered" recently with predictable rising prices accompanying the increased interest. Mike's posts along with a couple of other "unnamed co-conspirators" have certainly fueled the rise and I for one am glad I got a couple of these guns safely in hand (a First Gen for "show" and a built up Second/Third Gen for shooting) just as the trend got going good. I don't know whether I would have been able to afford all of this if I had waited a couple more months! You "serious collectors" don't have to worry about competition from me now... I'm too busy enjoying the chance to play with these!

PS For now, the challenge seems to be in collecting sufficient mags for each gun or making sure of interchangeability!

My 2 threads (of Aug 17 & Sept 3) of 'mags for sale' had 11 39/3906/3913 series mags go rather quickly to members. When I accumulate more, now that gun shows are back in operation, they'll be offered here.
Those 2 threads also got 2-356TSWs', 11-45s', 6-40s', & 26-59 series to members.
Next show is Akron at end of September.

Like I said in a previous post, I'm thinking we ought to all chip in and put you on retainer. You seem to be able to find the mags all the rest of us can only dream of. I really do appreciate that neat early 39 mag with Metalloy plating you sold me... in fact it is the number 1 mag for my Franken-Smith and is in the mag well as I type this! Thanks again.

Froggie

You (members) do, in a sense, have me on 'retainer' as this is the only place I offer the magazines.

And to quote an oft used phrase, "Thank you for your service." :)

This kind of thing is just one of the many aspects that make this forum unique!

Just in general, I think this is a poor time to buy any firearms. Prices are high, there are long indeterminate waits for new orders, very poor selection.

So unless you find something rare that you have been looking for for years, or need the firearm for work, I think it's better to just wait.

Another exception is someone who doesn't have a firearm at all. I think every responsible citizen needs something that shoots.

I've been encouraging a friend (Democrat) who had no weapon to buy something. And he recently bought a XD-40 compact. I took him to the range once, and we plan to go again next week so I could show him how to handle it and shoot safely.

BTW, he is a good shot for beginner. Must be his 50 years ago training in the Coast Guard.

Need to get every Democrat voter (that you trust) to buy a gun, that way when the Demonrats try to take them away, they will be offended that their elected officials are taking their property and change how they vote.

Just saw the results of an auction that has ended of two nice mid 1970s 39-2 plastic follower mags. $154/44! They must have been really nice condition mags. Just a tad out of my budget. Keep lookin. Mike

So glad I picked up another pair of mags a couple of years ago.

go ahead..gloat, gloat, gloat...you hoarders!

I do admire you goys that either had the foresight to "stock up" on Model 39 mags back when they were "working man priced", or otherwise stumbled into decent deals.

Me? Heck I knew I "overpaid" for one original mag at $53 last year off of flea bay, but definitely needed an original for my 39-2. Recently the $53 I paid isn't looking that bad so I can congratulate myself (while appeasing the wife who still doesn't understand, last mag she showed me at a flea market was $5 for a WWII 1911), yet for range time, even 2 isn't enough.

MY SOLUTION is born out of necessity: 1. Can't spend valuable range shooting time loading M39-2 single stack mags, 2. have plenty of 9mm on hand, 3: Solution: Load 2 M39-2 mags (16 rounds), Load 2 BHP double stacks (26 rounds): Hit the range and instead of spare mag holder (for mags I don't have) on belt I just have the BHP holstered and the loaded spare mags (1 each) on the bench. Total 42 rounds before having to reload.

Convoluted solution to crazy times, crazy prices....please PM me if you see M39-2 black plastic follower OEM mags come back to earth from Mars or the Moon or wherever they are being priced today.
