I have an older 39 series pistol, a 3954 to be exact. It came with one 8-round mag with an extended floorplate, and one 7 rd mag with a flush-fir floor plate. I prefer the flush-fitting one, and want to purchase a couple of spares, but can't find any anywhere. Any thoughts? Also - it doesn't appear that I can buy the protruding ones and simply replace the floorplate. Thanks.

Thanks much, but I've already searched there, and they don't have the flush fit mags.

Hey All,
I got a question here too. I picked up a couple used blued factory S&w 8 round mags for my 3906 but they won't snap in. They're a little short and have a slight offset in the metal floor plate. Apparently the older S&W 39's took a slightly shorter mag. Is this assumption correct? What exact model will these mags fit?? As for now, they're for sale.

They very well could be M39 mags. Can you e-mail me a picture, especially of the follower? If they are original M39 mags, I would definitely be interested in buying them.

t4707fwl - Sounds like you have magazines that will fit 1st and 2nd generation pistols (39/39-2/439/539/639). Mags for 3rd generation pistols(3904/3906/909) are a bit longer.
Murph - The 7 round magazine you describe sounds like an early model TSW magazine with some kind of modified floorplate.

Okay,

I can't picture a 3954 this early in the morning. Anyone got a picture or a description of the differences between it and a 3953?

Sam

OK, just to clarify. Mags labeled for the 439, 539 and 639 will all work in my 39-2?
