3904: stainless v blue

Long time Joe, hope Florida is treating you well.
If you are asking about the M3906(stnls) vrs. M3904(carbon), I'd say that there are more M3906's by a factor of 3:1 or 4:1. Just a guess based on what I've seen.

Actually, no, Robby. I'm asking about the stainless 3904 versus the blue 3904. I have a 3904, stainless upper/aluminum frame, marked "Gwinnett (GA) P.D." It's in about 90% condition, mostly holster/safety strap wear. I'm looking for a cleaner stainless 3904, but the only ones I've found on-line have been blued.

I also have a minty 3906 (all stainless, steel frame), adjustable sights that I use for a range gun.

Pensacola, what can I say? L.A. -- Lower Alabama, God's country, almost.... Gun shows in the panhandle (or Mobile & Biloxi) don't hold a candle to the WAC shows in Puyallup, for size, variety or prices. And gun politics down heah is pretty quiet. They don't have the Soviet of Seattle to rile the natives.

It is possible that your hybrid 3904 might have been a special order for Gwinnett County. I saw one like yours on Gunbroker and wondered about that myself.

That's the one, probably. Gwinnett P.D. via a dealer in Kansas. He had a few 5904s or 5906s similarly marked.

Pistol came with three mags and night sights. Functional and accurate, good carry piece for humid L.A. when the 4563 is too bulky. But the holster wear detracts...

Joe,
that's certainly a new one on me!
The factory has done some wierd combos over the years, a stainless M3904 would have to rank up there on the list, if it's legit.
Is it a two toned gun?
Have you called the factory with the serial number to see what their records show the gun as?
Another thought, could the gun be hard chromed? That's certainly an option. Lots of times a good hard chrome job will fool us into thinking it's stainless. It would certainly be worth researching that gun more.

If I knew how to upload photos...

E-mail me at the address in my profile and I'll send you pics. Looks original and legit to me. Close match to my 3906, except for the aluminum frame and the "MOD 3904" just below the serial #.
