I know the mags from a 5906 can be used in a 6906 with some type of adapter, so I was wondering if a 3906 mag would work in a 3913.

In addition, are 3906 mags unobtanium? Am I correct in doubting there's a similar type of adapter ala 5906 to 6906? Finally, am I correct in that if such swap is possible, I would only net one additional round?

Thanks.

You can still get 3913 mags curved or straight bottom also 3906 mags from S&W. 3906 mags as well as 39 to 639 mags will work, I've never looked for an adapter because I really don't care. I have seen used 3913 mags going for stupid prices on flea bay which makes no sense when you can buy new most of the time for less dollars.

I have a 3913 and a 3904. If you use a 9 round 3904 in a 3913 they work fine and give you a little more to hang onto on the bottom and one more round. I don't know of any sleeve for the magazine and I do not think one is needed.

I also have a 5906 and a 6906. I often use a the 15 round 5906 mag in the 6906. I do this in IDPA and I slam them in and since they are tapered at the top there is no problem. I have never used a sleeve for these either.

Midway usually has a good selection of S&W mags and they often have sales.

This has come up before. Yes, the 3904/6 magazine will fit in the 3913/14/53/54 and work fine.

There are both 8 round and 9 round OEM magazines for the 3904. Most of mine are 9 round, but I think I have one 8 round as well. Same size, so it's probably possible to convert an 8 round into a 9 round. OR ruin it trying. Maybe some day I'll take one of each apart and see.

Sorry for the noob question, but thanks to everyone for their input!
