3913 holster

After much debate between a 40 and a 9mm CCW piece I finally went after a 3913 on gunbroker and it is on the way. I havent really heard anyone say anything bad about the 3913's.

I plan on putting some hogues on it but really need a nice concealment holster. I am not really into IWB but would like a nice high ride pancake. Any ideas or suggestions?

I like the Kramer holsters the best for OWB.If you are carrying concealed why not leave the factory grips on because the Hogues like to stick to clothing.

While I havent shot this pistol with both grips, I have held it with both and the hogues feel much more confortable. With the factory grips it is to thin and "stiff" feeling.

I have a 4566 I put hogues on and like the thickness to them (even though the trigger feels a bit further away). I'll see when I get it.

Not sure why the hogues would stick to clothes, they dont seem sticky.

Thanks for the Kramer suggestion but I would like something with a thumb break.

The thumb break limits the choice, but we still have more available today than 20 years ago.

I usually prefer Kramer too, but De Santis makes serviceable OWB's for less money. I have a few DeSantis, the model 01 Speed Scabbard thumb breaks from RF Holsters - good service and price. I have a strong preferance for the version with only two belt slots, De Santis also makes a three belt slot version (for cross draw). (I simply think the 3 slot model is ugly and don't carry cross draw anyway.)

My favorite owb holster is the snap on off pancake. I believe it is an Alessi design, but many of the top holster makers make them these days. I own or have owned these style holsters from Alessi, Del Fatti, Bulman and TT.
I just got one in from Alessi for my CS9 but I was waiting for my new Big Dog grips to come in before posting pics. I got it in about two months and we all know for a custom holster that is FAST.
See a trend forming here?

I too am a fan of Greg Kramer's holsters. Most of my herd rides in his #3 IWB, his MSP paddle, or a Milt Sparks VM-2.

Good suggestions, but not many of the websites have the 3913/3914 as an option when ordering. What other models have the same dimensions?

I want something that really fits, not something that has to be made to fit. I am sure you guys know what I am saying.

I would highly recommend a Tex Shoemaker and Son Model PC-2
Its a snug to the body Belt holster with a thumb break. Specificly for the 3913/3914 models. Good quality at a reasonable price. I use it alot.

Greg Kramer at Kramer leather as he is still in production with the 3900/ 6900 series of S&W's. A 3913 also fits very nicely into a Sig 239 holster....almost like it was made for it.
Hope that helps you out. You will LOVE your 3913...mine is with me daily in a Kramer #3 IWB. Sometimes in a Kramer MSP paddle holster as well.

Lobo gun leather makes holsters for the 3913. Lobo Gun Leather - Home Prices are fair and the turnaround time isn't bad. Not sure that the workmanship compares to Del Fatti, but then neither do the prices.

I recommend that you take the same path I did. By something "off the rack" that will get you by until the designer piece you want is ready.

High Noon Holsters' Swift Skin is a high ride belt holster. It is a stocking item so it is available right away. I ordered one and got it that week. Not a top line holster, but it works. The Milt Sparks OWB I ordered 6 months ago finally came in. That is all I buy now, Milt Sparks OWB in leather.

I'll offer a deal to a fellow 3913 owner. I'll sell you the High Noon Swift Skin and single mag holder for $90 shipped. It would cost $117 shipped from High Noon. The holster is in mint shape; I didn't carry it much. It's not as stiff as leather, but like I said, it's available and functional.

Then, on July 1, call Milt Sparks' shop. Keep calling until you get through. They only take orders over the phone for the first 5 days of the month. Order a 55 BN OWB holster ($92) and S-4C mag holder ($52). Carry your 3913 in the High Noon until your Milt Sparks' rig comes in, and than "pay it forward" by selling the High Noon set up to another 3913 owner/forum member. It's easy.

Called Don Hume Leather today and got the last 3913 pancake they had in stock. I have a Don Hume for my 4566 and really like it. Great built holster.

The lady was very nice on the other side of the phone. She told me the holster had sat around for so long it may need refinished I left it up to them to refinish or they said they could just discount the holster. Should be here soon, I will post pics.

Might explore an IWB tuckable as well. Thank you all for the input.

Actually have a nice Don Tauris IWB for my 3913tsw. Never did I carry IWB until this. I actually like it for CC. Minimal if any printing.

I know you had asked about a thumb-break and found one at Don Hume, but you may also consider a Don Hume JIT holster. It's open top, but I think it holds the gun very well. I use the same holster for either a CS9 or a 3913.

I recieved my Don Hume holster for my 3913. Very nice and the lady at Don Hume was very nice on the phone to help me out. All I need to do now is take it for a test drive.

I think it is the double-nine holster on the website. I got the last one for the 3913 and was told they would not be making them anymore for that model. Not sure about the CS45.

They actually had to redo the leather since it had been sitting around for so long.

I am very happy with them and will check into other products.

This is a little late...but Strong Leather makes an 3 slot pancake that is a great fit and very reliable. Before my dept. changed over to the M&P's we had many of the holsters that were 10+ years old and still working without a hitch.
