3913 issue

3913 help please.
I have several 3rd gens, 2 of which are 3913s and on this particular 3913, the trigger is gritty and has a "hitch" just before trigger breaks. I have fully disassembled and cleaned not much in the way of grit or dirt inside the works. the problem persists, no other 3rd gen pistol I have has this issue. Can someone point me in a direction or what to look for to go to solve this besides see your local gunsmith option, in my area there is only the house of incompetence and clueless-r-us for smith choices.

Sounds like you may be dealing with a trigger play spring problem. Most often you can rebend the little copper spring to solve the problem.

I would like to replace it a new one, but nobody has them in stock at the moment. The one in mine is the old style I would would like to replace with the updated beefier one. I understand that bending the old spring will help, just not sure how much and where exactly to bend the spring.

I bought several and the rivets from Jack First parts back in spring......no on line catalog ...just call them tomorrow....they have great service.....I am no expert but I doubt a new trigger play spring will cure a gritty trigger.....good luck

You want to bend the two copper parts standing up at the rear on either side of the small rivet. You can kind of see what I'm talking about here.


Use the eraser end of a pencil or something else like it and bend very carefully forward.

These parts are just about impossible to find right now so you want to be pretty careful.

After full dis assembly and detail clean, the grittiness is gone, still has the "hitch" as before. I will call Jack First, they have helped me in the past with old Colt parts. I will try bending the old spring in the interim. let ya know how it works out
