3913 Trigger...is this a problem?

Went to the range with my new (to me) 3913 and have a question regarding the trigger.

As expected, the double-action trigger pull is heavy (maybe 10-12 pounds) and the subsequent single action pulls are much lighter and crisper.

The thing I'm wondering about is that the trigger breaks in different places for the DA and SA modes. It seems to break a little earlier in DA. I might be imagining it.

that is normal.

the DA/SA trigger system does require alot of training due to the first shot being DA and follow up shots being SA....when starting with a decocked hammer.

The single action hook on the hammer is farther back, all my TDASA guns are like that.

My 3913 with a TFJ serial prefix breaks at the same place in both double and single action, when dry firing. I have never shot the gun so there may be a difference under those conditions. The break point cannot be reached if there is a pencil placed behind the lowest point of the trigger, so it's pretty far back.

The DA trigger breaks about at the red line, and the SA trigger breaks about at the blue line. Is this normal, or is there some problem I need to get corrected?

Your good, just what Col Cooper used to call the "Krunchenticker", double action first round, followed by a much different single action pull. Its not a problem, but does require practice. I just received a very nice, Lady Smith from Jayman and it is different, as I like 1911, P-35, and Beretta Mdl 70 single action triggers much better, but I did miss Momma's Lady Smith, which embodies a certain "AURA" of Koolness. Make sure its empty and play with it a lot, it will begin to feel second Nature and this is a very natural point and shoot system!

I just checked two 3rd gens, a 3913 and a 4506. The 3913 has a VAD prefix and the 4506 has a VDF prefix. On both double action and single action the trigger is at the same position when the hammer falls. That position is pretty nearly all the way to the rear.
