I picked up a 3914DAO and want to install a Tritium front sight. Do i drive it out a particular direction? Is it normally peened in place? I don't see any obvious signs it's retained other than a friction fit. Is there a S&W tritium sight or after market only? I have one on my 3953 and i really like it. It matches the finish so i thought it might be a factory part.

Ashley express big dot night sights on a Cs9. Sights off to right on to left. Be very careful on back sight two springs vertical underneath. Both can launch or hang up / bend as
Sight is drifted off.

Drive the sights out left-right (or towards the ejection port), and install the new sight right-left. Front sight should just be a friction fit if it's still the factory setup, and will probably be pretty tight. I put my slide in a vise with thin strips of leather on each side, then shape the end of a brass punch to square it off and size it to the sight base. Then I use a 50oz deadblow hammer to drive the sights out & in (taking care with the night sight not to hit so hard that the tritium vial breaks). You can also use a sight pusher for this.

I would agree that the Trijicon SA24 front sight would be the sight to use. You can order a night sight from Smith&Wesson or elsewhere online, but you may receive an older-production sight from them (Midway is known for doing this). Sights glow for about 12 years after the production date (last 2 digits stamped on Trijicon night sights). Good idea to ask for the date of production before you order from a vendor, and if they won't tell you, be cautious.

I installed Meprolight Tru Dot night sights on a 6904 recently. As stated off to the right, on to the left. Got the sights from Amazon for $82 and used a brass drift after a lot of filing on the sight base. Nice and bright and shoot to point of aim. I will buy a sight pusher the next time.
