A buddy of mine wants a 45acp in DAO did smith make one? TKS

Oh heck yes they did! Smith & Wesson made double action only versions of most (if not all) of their 3rd Generation pistols. I also know that they usually can convert a DA/SA pistol to DAO if you send it in to the factory. They made both aluminum framed and steel framed versions in DAO. I have a 4586 which I enjoy very much. It's a full sized frame with a mid-sized 4 inch slide. Compact DAO versions with 3.5 inch barrels were also produced. Someone more knowledgeable than me will be along soon to list every model ever made. Sit tight.

My Smith & Wesson "wonder wheel" shows 4546 5" SS DAO, 4586 4.25" SS DAO, and 4556 3.75" SS DAO.

The 4546, 4586 and 4556 have steel frames. The 4586 also comes in a TSW flavor. In aluminum frames, there is the 4583 TSW and two flavors of 4553 TSW.
