CSX E-series owners PLEASE respond

I was surprised to see that the reviewer Sootchoo on youtube, even though he mentioned the perceived "Bad Trigger" on the original CSX, he admitted that in 2022, with the original CSX model, he still liked it enough to make it his everyday carry, and he has now adopted the New CSX-E as his EDC. I also have noticed other youtubers are liking the CSX-E and it's improvements. I think Sootch00 gets his S&W guns for free...so there may be a bias on his reviews

The trigger on my CSX (the original) has never been an issue and it is even better after over 500 rounds through it. Was at the range yesterday with it...just a great shooting Micro 9...3GF

I have both the original and the e series, I will admit the e series has a better trigger but both are good shooters.

I wanted the CSX when it was released. I like the metal frames. After hearing about the original CSX issue, I went with the Hellcat OSP instead and love it. Then SW released the E-series. I had to check it out. Got the 3.6 and loving it. I like the weight and the feel of the grip over the Hellcat. And tbh, i felt the E-series trigger are better than my hellcat. That's just me.

I admit to being a trigger snob. My favorite guns that I use in local competitions are a CZ Shadow 2 with an SAO Cajun Gunworks trigger job and a Phoenix Trinity H-TAC 2011with a 1.75 lb trigger pull and very short reset. For carry guns I like S&W's. A couple weeks ago I ordered a CSX-E 3.6" through by favorite FFL. When it came, it was a 3.1", but before we sent it back I got to handle it for a bit. I must say that I was pretty happy with the trigger. I measured the pull to be 4.5 lb. The takeup wasn't too long and the break had only a very small amount of creep. The reset was reasonably short and I could hear and feel only one reset, though it was not as forceful or loud as I would prefer. Still, it was totally adequate and serviceable. I didn't get to shoot it, but it did feel very good in my hand. I am looking forward to my 3.6" coming and hope that its trigger will be as good. Comparing the CSX-E trigger to that of my 4" Shield Plus Performance Center, I would say the CSX-E has slightly less travel and has a bit crisper break.

You are going to be very very happy with the 3.6 inch e-series trigger...so much better than the original CSX...Don't know if or why there would be a difference in the 3.1 vs 3.6 e-series triggers..would think they would be the same, but I only own the 3.6 and never fired the 3.1......

Was disappointed in the first CSX, hoping this will be better, but bought a Shield+ which is super, replaced my 938 that was outstanding but had limited capacity.

First range day with the CSX-E and I am pleased. I bought it because of the all metal and hammered configuration. Also, because it's a Smith & Wesson. It's trigger has only one reset and it is heard and felt. I felt no grit, but I am not very picky. I like a trigger on a carry that says I meant to pull that trigger. This pistol fits that description well. It conceals well with 15 rounds. It feels great in my hand, I removed the palm swell and went with the simple back strap. Did I say it was an all-metal pistol?

I picked my 3.1" E-series Saturday, cleaned and lubed it, and put 74 rounds thru it yesterday. I have no problem with the trigger. When shooting at a cadenced pace, the reset "tick" in my finger was the signal to pull again. I rarely notice a "heavy" trigger until it reaches 7 or 8 pounds, and I never noticed the pull weight. There were no hiccups at all. The only problem I saw is that, like my BG 2.0, I'm hitting low and left. During the cadenced shooting at 7 yards I had a nice little hole - low and left. At 10 yards the hole was just left. I measured the front sight drift and it is a tiny bit to the right. I think it might be the same amount on my BG. I drifted it over until was was perfectly centered. Tomorrow I'm shooting some of my defense ammo and we'll see if I got the front sight right.

The little gun fit me very nicely, as the thicker grip works well for me. No movement, I can reach all the controls, and no interference with my hands while shooting. I'm gonna like this for my summer carry.

A friend just bought one and has buyer's remorse. He loves his Shield and said he should have stuck with it, but felt the need to go from a striker to a hammer.

So this is an interesting thread. I purchased the CSX E-Series 3.1" for a few reasons. One, I have a thing for hammer fired pistols. Two, the trigger is what I will call a hybrid trigger, in that it's pull is unique with a little bit of a traditional Glock like trigger safety, but the trigger movement swing is much less and flatter more like 1911. Three, the safety is very easy to use, albeit when broken in. It took a while to become really easy and Four, I like how it breaks down like a 1911.

Now, after over 1000 rounds I think I can speak intelligently about it. The trigger is just fine. Tacticle reset and smooth, getting smoother over time. Strong reset with an audible click. There are no hiccups on it, and never had a dead trigger. There has been no failure to feed with multiple types of ammo. Converting the grip module is an amazing selling point. Want small? Use the smaller grip for 12 rounds and up. Want full sized? Use the 15 and 17 round mags with the correct sleeves.

My one issue is more me than the pistol: I need to get a more consistent grip on it. If not my rounds go all over the place (meaning 12 inch group at 10 yards). If I'm consistent, I'm on target. I also have the Performance Center Shield Plus Carry Comp and it's much easier to shoot, but it's also bigger and, well, compensated.

Another thing people don't like: smaller trigger guard leads to less to grip when using a different support hand grip and using fingers on the trigger guard. That doesn't effect me, but others have mentioned it as an issue for them.

If I had to do it all over again? I'd get the 3.6" for stability. But I have the 3.1 so I have to practice more to get a more consistent grip on it for better groupings.

And that's my take on the CSX E-Series.

You don't see a CSX thread without it being about the trigger..

I have a different question for anyone who EDC's either version of the CSX.. Do you carry it Condition 1, cocked, locked and loaded like a 1911?

they look like great little guns, and i'm glad to see S&W continuing to make an innovative EDC-ready hammer fired pistol.

Cocked, locked and loaded? Darn tootin. It doesn't make sense to me to carry any other way. It's not a Sig 😂

It's funny. I see nothing wrong with the trigger. It's different for sure, but not unusable or hard to pull. I actually like it. It's certainly not a race gun trigger, but there's nothing wrong with it.

is either of your 2 the e-series??? and is the e-series trigger better than the original?? I saw a youTube video showing the e-series has a 3 click trigger reset.
I can confirm the 3 click to be true although the last click is very subtle.

I recently bought a 3.1" CSX e and do like it. To me it's fine, I have zero issue with the trigger.

I took it out yesterday for a few drills at the range and it ran fine. I hope to use it next season shooting BUG division in IDPA. I'll post more about my experiences in the competition folder later

I bought one when they first came out. I liked everything about the gun EXCEPT the trigger!!!!! It had the three click reset, except the last reset was not too audible nor tactile. I felt like I was going to break my trigger finger trying to use that abominable trigger. Yes I grew up with 1911s and own a 52 and several revolvers all of which are a dream to shoot especially compared to the CSX-E. I am currently working on breaking in an M&P 2 Metal with the 3.6 barrel and safety. I have an original metal where the trigger is a dream to use. In fact, several gunsmiths have asked if it the original trigger. I am hoping as I put more rounds through the compact model, the trigger will work itself to the same state as the original.

I don't know if I never noticed it, or if it was so mild and it worked itself out. It was never an issue. But I've never had that trigger issue. Everyone seems to be talking about. To be fair, I wasn't reading up about that specific issue and none of the videos I watched brought that up. So maybe my ignorance was my Bliss and breaking it in made it a non-issue.

Need an honest review and appraisal of the trigger on this handgun.

My gun store peeps are telling me it is a horrible trigger..long and heavy.....and it's so bad they have stopped stocking the CSX.

They are trying to push me towards the Sig 938. I am not sure if my peeps are even familiar with the new e-series and they may be judging by the original CSX model......

Any comments would be greatly appreciated if anyone has one.

Thanks in advance.
I have the CSX E Series. It's my second CSX and I love it. I have the Holosun Green Dot on it. Due to a summer long fire ban here in AZ, I've not shot it much, but it has a very good trigger--Slightly less than 5#. Yes, I'd prefer 4#, but it's excellent. The reset on mine is one click. Holding it up beside my hearing aid, it's one click and quite short. I dry fire it 2-3 times per week. It's my EDC and in my gunsmith opinion, it's superior to the Sig 938 (though the 938 can be improved greatly.) S&W did a good thing in brining out the E Series.

I love my CSX. I have carried it Every day for a couple of years now.
Compact. Large capacity. Goes bang every time.
Don't know what else you could ask of it.
No comparison to my SIG P938.
I sent my P938 back to the factory twice. It never was reliable. Slightly smaller than the CSX at half the capacity. That alone is a good reason to go with the CSX.

I picked up the 1st gen csx as it came with 6 mags a few weeks back. I will be looking to buy an e series as I found myself short stroking the trigger on the 1st gen too many times when trying to do rapid fire. Unsure if it was subconsciously feeling the assumed reset. I'm use to the reset on my 3rd Gen smiths and sheild series.
