Based on sage advice from a fellow forum member and 3rd generation enthusiast, I picked up a model 4054 today.

Single stack, carbon steel slide, alloy frame, DOA .40 caliber - cleaned up very nicely. Only 154 made during it's production run of 1991-92 (I know where at least one other one is) - feel free to sound off if you have one of these or the 4053.

It is built on the 45 frame so it fits my Rosen ARG for my model 457 very nicely.

I think I'm going to like this little beauty.

Surely we can lay claim to at least 25 of these as belonging to S&W Forum members?

Picked up a 4053 a few years back.

I have a 4053, but the side plate is broken. Haven't had the chance to hunt one down or call S & W to see how much it will cost to repair. I would suggest purchasing the magazines with the extension. The ones with out it make it hard to get a proper grip on the gun. My pinky is just kinda hangin' out there without the extension. Otherwise, I think it is top shelf just like all my other 3rd gennies.

Mine came with only one mag - w/o the extension. That's part of my search now.

Thanks for the advice.

Very cool 4054, I have never seen one in person. I have a early 4013 that I really like but they are much more common. It is the pistol that got me started with the S&W 3rd Gens.

Thanks -

I have more than a few single stack 3rd generation nines - and a few single stack forty fives -

the only memorable forty I've had was a double stack 4013 TSW that someone removed the rail from - never liked the "rivets" that filled the holes and ultimately got rid if it.

This single stack forty may very well sway me towards an early 4013 and 14 and 4053 and ............

Add me to this elite group. Picked this 4054 up last week.

Cool & scarce

Fairly scarce unit, they don't show up often. I gave one to my son in law several years back, unfortunately he recently traded it in for an M&P 9mm, bummer. Still have this one, one of my favs in the Third Gen line.

4053

I don't have one of the "rare" ones.

Purchased this 4053 a couple of years ago. With the narrower frame, it is a great size and fits my hand well.

Also found an extra 4053 barrel and slide combination and converted it to 10mm......so I can shoot both calibers by swapping slides.

Enjoy your 4054.
