I was in my LGS last week and they had a blue CS9 in 98% shape with two mags, but no box. $349. Came here and read up a little on them and called him up and told him to put it on hold. I'm going in to get it today.

I guess we'll see how it stacks up against my Kahr CW9. The Kahr is a great little gun, but it's square back end of the frame tends to hurt my first thumb knuckle (closest to the palm).

I perused most of the CS9 threads here and most people have the stainless versions. Does anyone have any idea of the ratio S&W sold stainless vs. blue? Did the blues have a shorter run? Do you think the blue ones are worth more?

He'll be joining my 4566TSW and 410S in the safe.

Thx,
Craig

Sorry, not qualified to talk details. I just know that my CS45 is
a great firearm, although I wish it had been blue. (I love blue!)
How about some pics, so I can pine away looking at it?
Thanks for posting. TACC1

Hey Craig

If you dont like it let me know I am sure we can find it a home

That is a very good price for a CS9 in good condition. As for the actually black vs the silver, I have no idea but I did ask a question yesterday about the two tone ones and how rare are those. Guy has a CS40 two tone several cities away that wants to sell but he wants too much to travel half a day to get.

I'd jump on one at that price. I am very interested in a comparison of the Kahr VS CS9 as well.

Best auto loading pistol ever that S&W doesn't make

Once again I read these threads, and see all of the excitement over the Kimber Solo (suppposedly still a very large backlog of orders and long waits to get one) and the Kahr, and the LCP's and LC9's, and know that the most exciting new gun introduction in America would be:

Scandium CS9's, 40's and 45's in black Melonite finish, and Scandium 3913's and 4013's in black Melonite

I love my 4014 (black) and someday hope to have a black Shorty 40

Hey Smith & Wesson- making the above guns won't cannibalize sales from your plastic gun lines- If I cant buy a scandium 3913 I'll most likely by a Kimber Solo, SIG 220 compact, P239, or P238.

I was looking a little time ago at a CS40, very nice good price to but someone got to it before me.

Bought it plus gun porn

Well, I got the little beast!. That makes 3 3rd gens now; 4566TSW, 410S & the CS9. It turned out even better than I thought. I had asked the dealer to put it on hold for me last week when he said there was no box and only 2 mags. So, he goes back to get it, finds the box and we open the box and there's a 3rd mag wrapped up in the oily paper.

Took it to the range, sat down and stripped it to clean and oil it before shooting. Pretty dry and clean inside; I don't think this had a box of fifty shot through it. It has a steel guide rod, but I have trouble telling if the Novaks are steel or plastic.

Did some 7 yard drills with it; you guys are right, these things shoot low! I guess I'll have to get the Trijicons, but I can't believe they'll move the POI up that much. I shot it against my Kahr CW9 and I'm much better with the Kahr, but that just means I get to practice more with the CS9! If you have never shot a Kahr, they have one of the sweetest DAO triggers going.

It feels great to shoot though. I really like the fat little hogues. I have longish fingers and like a bigger grip, so I think they'll stay. In fact I have added Hogue Handall Jrs to the Kahr and even stuck another piece of rubber to create a palm swell. I guess if you are going to carry 99.99% of the time and hopefully never shoot, then a thin grip is great, but I like to practice with something I can hold onto. It's kind of funny to me that everyone that gets full size 3rd gens, replace the delrins with Hogues and the CS9s come with Hogues and everyone wants the delrins.

I've attached a little photo comparison to my Kahr as well. In pictures 4 & 5, I overlaid the CS9 on the CW9 and vice versa to show that perspective. The Kahr has a 3.6" barrel vs. 3" for the CS9

woodlecj:

awesome gun, and also a very nice job with the photos.

What state are you living in that you bought this gun for $349? That's a steal of a deal!

I believe one option for the sights would be to send it to Novak's in Parkersburg, WV. They'll install their night sights and have them adjusted for proper POI.

Finally, seeing those photos makes me want to scream! I just got a new Smith & Wesson catalog and there is nothing like your CS pistol on any page.....(which of course we all know is the case) and there should be!

At least they could make a Performance shop version or Pro version. Scandium frames, melonite finish.

Thanks. I live in the Lehigh Valley area of eastern PA. I have a great little shop near me that gets interesting pieces in and doesn't try to make a huge profit on trade-ins.

Great score and a great picture comparison with the CW9. I have just gotten interested in the 3rd gens (3913 on layaway) and I own a CW9. I will be interested in making the comparison when I get the 3913 home.
