Another Marlboro, MA show today that turned out okay for poor, old TTSH. :) I scored a fixed sights Model 422 in excellent shape with one magazine and factory box/papers for $225 out the door. Not too shabby. ;) This plugs a smallish but nagging hole in the collection. I hoped for much more, but that was my prize for the day. :)

Other interesting observations:

I thought I had found a big score when I spotted a Model 4506-1 tagged at $550. At first, I thought it might be an R4 version... but when I turned it over, it was marked 4506-1, so no go. :o The reason it was so cheap (for an otherwise high-priced dealer)? Someone had removed (sandpapered off?) the "Smith & Wesson" laser marking from the slide. :(

GaryS and I both spotted a crazy high-priced Model 410S... $599.   Dealer did have a sign: 5% off to help cover the sales tax.

I was more interested in the same dealer's railed Model 3913TSW, but again the price tag was much too high: $675.

I also liked a Model 4043 which was in very good shape but no box and just one magazine. Price tag $449. I'll bet I could have got it for $400... but you know my new family rule re: 40's.

Also tempting was a Model 4013 (non-TSW) for $539 tagged price... but again, you know the TTSH family rule re: 40's.

There was also a Model 459 in really good condition with a tagged price of $579. I'm not a big 2nd Gen kind of guy, but the gun was immaculate.

A Model 4516-2 was a leftover from the last show. Tagged at $525.00, I would have bought it except that I already own a 4516-1. Still, he was willing to deal, so I haven't entirely ruled that one out. :)

Beyond that, all the usual suspects from the last couple shows were mostly still around with the notable exception of that PC .40 that GaryS and I both reported on previously. I forget how low the seller had dropped the price (twice!) but it was starting to get into bargain territory. I wasn't surprised to see that it finally sold. :p

Magazine-wise, I spotted a few marginal bargains (1006 magazine for $60, pre-ban 5900-series 14-rounder for $27, etc.) but I really wasn't magazine shopping for other than a good deal on 6900-series 10-rounders. I spotted two for $40 each, but am holding back for now pending further hints on legislative action from our moonbat statehouse.

Overall, gun dealers there reported brisk sales... a good thing. I do sense that dealers are reducing inventory... i.e., not replacing inventory at nearly the same rate as in prior years. There were also fewer gun dealers present and many more knife, scope, accessory and trinket dealers. Not sure how they were doing... but who cares? ;)

I saw pretty much the same thing as you did. I saw some 59xx magazines for $50.00/each. I have enough already, so wasn't interested. I didn't see the $27.00 59xx magazines, but that was probably due to my lack of interest.

Saw a 4516 yellow follower magazine, but it was $45.00 and there were black follower magazines at better prices.

Gun prices were what I consider gun show prices. That is to say, high.

I saw a Zander 457 for $539.00. It was in average condition for a black slide 457, defintely not worth a premium. The SCSW reports 2x prices for Zanders, but personally I would only pay that if I were a collector and it was ANIB with all accessories and paperwork.

There was also a sort of beat up 457 also for $539.00. That just made me happier about my 457 in box purchase for $349.99 + tax.

The .40 stuff isn't my thing, so I didn't look too closely at the few that were there, although they were nice. I saw the 4516-2 as well, but again, no interest when there are alloy framed versions around.

Dealers did seem to have people sitting at the tables filling out 4473s, but I saw nothing I was willing to part with gun fund money on.

I thought that there were more guns for sale than the last show, but maybe I'm wrong.

Someone should tell the ammo dealers about the 2016 election results.

In the non 3rd Gen department, I handled a couple of Hi Point carbines. For what they are, they sure feel heavy.

There's a show close by next weekend, but I'll be in SC at my son's house watching the Super Bowl, so won't be there.

I should have also added that there was a guy there from the Collector's Association with a nifty display of his pristine perfect, full-size, single-stack 1st and 2nd Gens 9mm pistols. :) Okay, I admit it... I drooled a bit. :D

I saw those, along with some nice revolvers, and the guy that has a collection of Boston PD revolvers.

Thanks to both of you for the details concerning the show. I see high prices are still the norm but they ain't making em anymore and evidently someone may pay the price. Interesting to see the going prices anyway. Might check out the show in Foxboro. Prices of 3rd Generations not too shocking when I see what 98ks, lugers, or Pythons are going for. LOL Again thanks for the report.

One side note: You may have noticed that nifty display of full-size, single stack 9mm pistols included a flawless Model 639 exactly the way I want it: Round trigger guard, fixed sights and no ambi safety. :) Owner said he paid $825 for it. I wasn't surprised. I asked him if he was interested in selling it. He just looked at me funny and didn't even answer. :p Oh well... you never know unless you ask. ;)

You're welcome. :) I was up all night wondering if I should have made a cash offer on that railed 3913TSW. Yes, the price was sky high... but percentage wise, if the dealer would have matched the percent off discount that he gave me on the Model 422, I might have been able to pull it off!

I wondered if I should go back this morning, but other commitments would make it rather difficult. :o Still, the show *does* go on until 3:00 PM today. :D

The prices of Pythons and all MilSurps shock me these days. Two years ago, I sold both of my SKS rifles for twice what I paid for them. I could do the same with my Enfields if I was of a mind. Not to mention what my K31 would go for considering what kind of shape it's in.

In your 639 chase, that is no easy order. The early rounded 2nd Gens are absolutely scarce, it's not like they made half & half.

I did want to suggest however that if you manage to find round trigger guard and fixed sights -- do not let an ambi safety stop you from taking home that pistol. There are definitely folks that are interested in swapping their single side safety in exchange for your ambi.

I am with you -- totally love the single sided safety also. Heh, reminds me of my PC pistols.

Went to the Lima show today Sunday. Typical large Lima show. 11 hours and 400 mile round trip. There WAS only 1 3rd gen at the show,a 3953 DAO,had a tag of $425. I spent time looking at it and they knew I was interested. I walked away and he followed me and offered it for $400. Told him I'd be back. Went to a vendor that I help at for a while and then went back and got it. I have a preference for DAO and it's my 1st 39. Due to another stop in Columbus after the show,I came home with 2. 3953 and 3913.

Recent north central IL gun show prices:
Model 659, LNIB, manual, tools, box, 2 S&W magazines, $550

Model 5906, very nice, 3 S&W magazines, $450

The Lima Tri-State Show had a 5906 for $595 with 3 mags, IIRC. I brought my 4566TSW and had many inquiries but didn't make a sale on it. I did see the 3953 that you bought but I didn't handle it. I did buy a used Coonan Classic.

Participated in the small Cuyahoga Falls Ohio show today Saturday. I wasn't selling any firearms, just misc. stuff.
3rd Gens: table next to me had a 5946 shooter grade for $550. Another table had a 5904 and a 6904,both shooter grade and both @ $450.
This show had about 50% more tables than the previous Cuyahoga Falls show in December and probably 300% more attendance by the public. Guns were selling.

Went to the Berea Ohio gun show today, very crowded at 11am.
Saw a 5903(better than shooter grade) @ 450,a 908(not S) shooter grade,@ 395,another 5903 shooter grade @ 450.
Saw a 1026( that the vendor has had for many years) @ 2000,last time I saw it at that vendor it was 1400.
