Bill you got me curious -New thread to avoid getting to far afield on the 3913 sight thread - What are the differences in mounting geometry between early 3rd generation fixed sights and Novak fixed sights and Adjustable sights. And are there also differences in cuts in slide between single stack and double stack and calibers?

I have a 1992 6944 which should have a Novak, but prev owner switched to the early pre-Novak sights - would like to get back to Novak or maybe the LPA adjustable.

More specifically, would a 6944 be considered same as 3913 - TPU91SW18/TPU91SW07 (.100x.420) size or a full size TR66SW18 (.170x.430) or TR66SW07 (.100x.425) (or is the .100x.425 a misprint - s/b .170x.430).

So, you have a 6944 that has a 669 rear sight on it?

The dovetail cut is the same. The only difference on those early non-Novak gun is the lack of the relief for the rearward overhang on the Novak pattern sights.

I've modded several of those older guns to accept a Novak. Merely requires milling a flat aft of the dovetail cut. No change to the dovetail cut.

All the compact 9mm 3rd gen guns use the same sight set.
Night sight set is pn: 19104
Standard front is pn: 10907 and is .204 tall
Standard Novak backsight is pn: 10792

As long as your rear sight cut hasn't been messed with, you can put anything on there that would fit a 3913 or 6906 et al., including a LPA adjustable if preferred.

Cheers
Bill

Thanks for quick response.

I have 2 6944s - one is from the initial 1990 group of 512 TFB prefix product code 103124 with the D trigger guard and has the correct Novak sight

The other is from the later 1992-93 group with TZB prefix and product code 108138 with the curved trigger guard and should have a standard Novak sight.

My initial thought was that prev owner had swapped slides with an earlier pistol, but the inside of the slide is stamped 6944 and it has a relief cut behind the sight which is what initially called my attention to the early sight. Photos attached

I have a 6906 with the straight slot rear sight, a 3913 with factory Novaks. The Novak is superior in every way. His shop is an hour drive from my home - one day I will take the 6906 to him for a replacement.

Anyway, what you have there is the factory low-mount sight cut so the standard #10792 will fit right on there.

Cheers
