I was able to find a 6906 in fair shape on GB back in early January for $300. It was about in normal condition, with a lot of holster wear, faded sights and a well worn original set of grips. So, I rescued it, with a complete custom restoration in mind, as I already have a bone stock 6906 in excellent shape. I stripped the entire gun down, had a custom trigger job done by a friend, replaced every spring with new Wolfe springs, polished all interior pieces so everything was as smooth as silk. I was able to locate a new old stock barrel polished the feed ramp, sent the frame assembly to a company and had it CeraKoted in a graphite black, installed new set of Hogues, redone the sights myself and refinished all of the stainless parts including the frame to remove all scratches and dings. CDNN actually had some new S&W 12 round magazines for 29.99 a while back and was able to grab 4 of those for it. I even actually found a Gould & Goodrich holster for it for $10! Heading out tomorrow to tune it up at the range.

What did you use to redo the sites? I like they way they show up. Nice job all around.

You made a nice purchase and have done good things to your 6906.

It really looks great!

Love the two-tone look with the new grips. Thanks for the info and pics. Best of luck and be sure to post the range report.

Thanks for the comments. I have put a before picture up. Notice I had the trigger and hammer cerakoted black with the frame. The sights were redone using a day glow lacquer paint available at most hobby stores. used basic red for the safety indicator on either side.
The rear sights as you can see are orange and the front sight is that lymon green/yellow color you see on new street signs. Their are other color options available. I went with the two different colored sights so my eye would pick up the sights quicker. also on my refinished frame the camera makes some of the sharp edges look rubbed or worn, but the entire finish is smooth and uniform.
I also produced the aluminum prop rod you see in the pictures.
Thanks again

Thanks for all of the nice comments. I finally got out to the range today (bad weather ) It took very little fine tuning and she was driving tacks! I could not be more pleased. I used a few different loads and manufacturers. Not one FTF or FTE, I think the polishing of the feed ramp was significant.
I also ran some rounds through my 5906, to let it air out.
All in all it was a beautiful day and had excellent results. :D
