Ok guys, I need some insight on something. I was at my LGS, talking to the owner, and he was showing me a 5906 (I think?). He told me that the gun could be put on safe, but the decocker mechanism doesn't decock. Evidently, the previous owner disabled the mag safety and did something to the safety/decocker that makes it able to go into "safe", but won't decock? What's going on here, can I help him fix it, and what parts may be involved?

manual safety mod

The sear release lever has probably been modified so that the action of rotating the manual safety down, into the "safe" position, does not result in the sear being acted upon to release the hammer.
If this is the case, it can be repaired by replacing the sear release lever with a new one. Keep in mind this lever has to be fit properly so that engages at the correct point during the activation of the safety. It's not a "drop in" part, in other words.
