two times back for feed issues that they resolve. Just as I'm finally starting to love it and it blows an extractor.
hate to give up on this thing but damn.

dang.. thats not good.. hopefully you get more than just a mag for the trouble.

What is the first three letters of your serial number? Just curious.

Actually if you look at his other posts, aftger he got it back, I believe the first time, he started shooting only CCI minimags.

Poor guy after sending it back for the third time they should replace the rifle. a lemon is a lemon.

Let us know if they make it right this time, seemed like you were excited about it after the first trip back, but couldn't find much about what happened after getting it back the second time. Saw where you scored a couple 10 round mags plus a pinned 25 rnd mag on that first trip back?

They "should" replace the upper assembly, bolt and all. Will they? Who knows. Since the lower is the serialized part there would be no problems sending it back and not having to register it again. That would be what I would do if it were my product, and S&W is a decent company, so it may not hurt to ask.

Eh, he might just have a lemon then! I would definately be complaning a good bit about that one.

Mine was having FTE every 50 rounds or so using Federal Bulk, sent it in, since it came back maybe 1,000 or so rounds no problems.
On tag it did not say what they did, so I called the guy said the notes said bring to current specs.
I think that met bend the ejector lever slightly.
Anyway works great, Good Luck with yours.

Most of the time with these when you are having a FTE is almost inevitably points back to the extractor. I love how folks are so quick to jump and say "oh, you must be using junk ammo..." Then folks send it back to S&W(which IMO there customer service has takin a down hill spiral in the last few years, they pretty much suck, but thats another thread), the "techs" at S&W bend the extractor and test it a few times, "yep works good" then send it back...

Do yourself a favor and take it to the range and bring a pair of needle nose pliers with you. Take the bolt out, bend the extractor a little and run a few HUNDRED rounds through it. If it acts up, bend the extractor a little more, repeat as necessary. I had to tweak mine 4 times before I got it right, but I have not had a single issue(4000+ rounds) since I did this.

No down time when you do it your self, and you get to test your work and play and shoot while doing it!

Hope this helps

Good luck

I have a DTU model as well that I am waiting for a shipping label from S&W. Mine had 48 FTE in 100 rounds. YUCK!! Hopefully this wasn't a DTU issue, but I am empathetic towards your situation. I would say if they don't do something drastic like replace on this next one, take the above posts advice and tinker yourself, you may correct it.

Did you mean ejector? Bending an extractor (the hook on the bolt itself) sounds a little difficult.

After the second trip the feed issues were gone. several hundred rounds and no problems at all until this. I tried some "cheap stuff" in the beginning because my Ruger 10/22T, S&W 22A and Model 41 shoot it just fine, had a lot on hand. Then tried Winchester Super X and then CCI Mini-Mag. Stayed with CCI cause the factory guy recommended it. And it is a DTU series. Factory guy tells me they have a three strike deal. If a gun comes back three times they replace or refund. Haven't decided what to do yet. Mailing label should be here by Friday so will decide by then. Had my hands on the Sig 522 yesterday. Kinda nice.

Are the dtu known for problems?

Bringing this back up since you have thoughts about the Sig and considering the current model 15-22.

I bought the Sig over the weekend. OD green, discounted model now a days. Shot about a hundred rounds, no malfunctions at all.

Some thoughts are the gun feels smooth, mostly due to the metal upper. Triger is smooth, but longer pull than the 15-22. No feed issues, surprising considering the amount of play the magazine has when locked in place. It's every bit as accurate as the 15-22.

My one complaint would be the magazine. It's not pleasant at all to load. There isn't a load assist button and the edges of the load opening are sharp. It loads easily for the first 12 to 15 rounds, then takes some pressure where the openings edges can get kind of tiresome wearing on the fingers. Haven't had it long enough to search out any sort of speed loader. It's a fine rifle, but so far I prefer my 15-22 with full rails.
