I'm converting an old full sized M&P 9 1.0 with a 4.25 bbl / slide to a CORE 5" bbl and slide. Will the original guide rod from the shorter slide fit the 5" slide and, if so, can I use the original spring rate?

Thanks

In my limited experience the 5" 2.0 slide requires a longer RSA (Recoil Guiderod and Spring)...

That's what S&W sent me when I assembled a 40 S&W 2.0 5" slide, any way. I would check with them.

Cheers!

Opps my bad ,,, Stromin is correct !! Sorry about that . same Spring are what I use in both . Glock spring to be exact .

OP has a 1.0. Yes the OEM RSA fits the 5" slide.

I have a 4.25" M&P 1.0. A few years back I bought the 5" Ported CORE kit. I used my existing RSA on the 5" and put a new spare in the 4.25". The RSA has about 1500 rounds total with about 500-ish using the 5". Haven't had any issues yet related to the increased mass of the slide, barrel and optic. I typically run 124gr FMJ through it.

OP: Are you running OEM or some aftermarket?

I do recall reading that some 2.0 5" slides are different and use a different RSA but I'm not sure which ones (other than what Storminorman has). :)
