Hi all, was goofing around with the camera and here it is. Only have three M-19's, a two and a half inch dash four, a four inch dash six and a six inch dash five. The dash five in six inch will put all of my M-14's to shame accuracy wise, whoda thunk it? Gwenny the gun cat had to be included as well! Merry Christmas all!

Beautiful cat!

Nice Model 19's, too. I love the nickel 2 1/2" one. I just really like snubbies!

Nice family picture. I know what you mean about the 6 inch M-19 for shooting accuracy, I have a 19-4 in nickel, great looking gun plus a nice shooter.

Hey Cowboy, not sure what Gwenny the gun cat is. We adopted her from the Humane Society, they called her an American longhair, she's a bit too long haired to be a Russian Blue I think. I call her the gun cat because she alway's seems to be around to supervise any gun related activity and reloading going on. Something about cats and reloading, just about all the pictures of reloading bench's in books and magazine's had a cat in em for some odd reason!

it is a rare and valuable longhaired guard cat. pretty eyes too.

Three 19s and a 10!

Thanks for the neat pix. Gwenny looks like a great security cat.

I still miss my Smokey, who was a ringer for your pet..

Best,

Dyson

SHOULD I BUY A MODEL 19 INSTEAD OF A MODEL 14?

I was looking to buy a Model 14 for target shooting but after reading your email should I buy a used Model 19/66? Or even a Model 686?

Has anybody else found their 357 to be more accurate than a Model 14? Including the new classic models???

Skip, my most accurate ".38" is probably an early 586. Still, I don't like shooting shorter cases in the magnum chambers.

Bob, is that cat a giant, or does she just look big because of the perspective of the picture? She makes those 19s look tiny! :o

As to the reloading, I think cats are naturally curious about such things, and take the time to "supervise" us humans, whereas dogs are happy just to provide us company. :)

skipr77, I have wanted a Model 14 for 2-3 years now. I haven't bought one yet, though, because my 686-1 with 6" barrel is so accurate, with both 357 and 38 loads.

I've contemplated selling the 686 to get a 14, because I prefer 38s over 357s and blued over stainless. However, there's no guarantee the replacement would be as accurate as what I have now.

Hi skpr77 and UnderDawgAl
I have found that most firearms are more accurate than the shootist. Since both of you have revolvers that appear to be quite accurate it sounds like the challenge would be to improve yourself. I went the route of just having to have a M14 to have a target type pistol and found it was not measurably better than the model 67 I had traded for it at the time. lt was probably me shooting at my potential at the time. But, Gee isn't it fun trying all these different ones, hoping one will be the magic gun that always shoots that one hole cloverleaf at 25yds every time. That is really what this wonderful avocation is all about.

Thanks Shakyjake for your input, it is much appreciated. I have a 586-0 zero that was the very first pistol I bought back in early 1984 and will never sell!!

I think I will wait and shoot more with my 586, I have had a very hard time finding 38 special target ammo.

I am surprised to hear that other pistols with the right shooter is just as accurate as the Model 14. I love the look of the Model 14 but I do not have the income right now for such a purpose, so I will stick with my trusty 586-0
