4" M&P Pistol

There's always the SD/VE/etc whatever they call it line of S&W pistols. There's your Glock-sized S&W pistols.

Yes, it is a g19 sized S&W, but it's not an m&p...Different ergos, different trigger, different design. I say drop the sdve series and spend that money on the platform that actually has a decent market share (M&P). Only gun geeks like us even know what sdve stands for and it is a ridiculous acronym that screams "third tier".

That said,I actually think the sdve is a fine defensive pistol.

These discussions are funny to me. Everyone talks about barrel length, but it's grip length that is more difficult to conceal. The G17 Has a longer barrel, but similar sized grip. The G19 has a shorter grip. It offers close to the same ergonomics as a full size gun, but is easier to conceal.

I own 7 or 8 handgun brands but glocks are not on the list . Had a couple just dislike the odd grip angle and design enough to not keep one around.

Grip length with most pistol does not bother me but short does hide easier . I have small 2 finger grip pistols and that cover a certain need and a have pistols like kahes full size that offer a grip long enough the widest of hands could not cover and carry them .

For most of my working years barrel length was 3" to 3.5" and mostly shorter 2 and 3 fingers single stack grips , all easy to conceal and work with . Now that I'm retired barrel length for my CC pistols is basically 4" along the capacity and grip length is a full grip . Grip width can be more of a problem but only a couple models offer options to change the width thru grip size . I have learned to work around a long grip for concealed carry with my larger kahrs . My current carry is a sig p320 compact that has a 3.9" barrel and full grip for me and a 14+1 cap of 40sw .

I bet you guys dollars to donuts the most popular sig p320 is the compact model, which is a midsize pistol that competes directly with the g19 - 3.9" bbl with just enough grip to get your pinky on there with 15 rounds of 9mm.

I know we are beating a dead horse, and this has been discussed at length 100 times. I just want S&W to see the light :) is it so bad to want to buy another M&P?

I'm sure not against another model if S&W sees a profit in it. However, I certainly wouldn't buy one. I had a G23 for some years that ended up in the safe because I couldn't carry it concealed to my satisfaction in light weight Florida garb, just too dang big. And for a house gun, why compromise capacity.

Also, keep in mind that the G19/G23 were introduced long before the smaller G26/G27 were introduced (which IMO were flawed by being as thick as the larger guns). Would Glock add the 19/23 to their line at this point? Who knows.

Personally, I think the M&P compact 9 and 40 fill the "need" for a somewhat larger carry gun than the Shield and going up to full capacity weapons from there makes a lot of sense.
