Last week a friend was shooting an 8 shot model 627-5 with a 4" barrel. I have never seen nor heard of this particular version of the model 627. I can't find any mention of a 4" barrel in the SCSW, and am hoping someone can provide me with some information on this particular version. I am especially interested in knowing how many were made and what is the estimated value of this model?

I don't know how rare they were, they were a regular production run, I sold a couple and they were nice guns. But for $100 more you could get the Pro Series that was cut for moon clips, had the interchangable front sight and PC style slabside barrel. I did hang on to one of those, right now all of S&W revolvers seem to be limited production so it's hard to tell if we see them back out on the shelfs anytime soon.
