I'm going to have to buck the trend here. I'm a long time LEO and private security firearms instructor. The company I used to work for changed to the M&P 40's from revolvers. They issued the FS to most employees but compacts to those working inside our buildings. Nobody liked the perceived recoil particularly from the compacts. Many had problems with qualifying with them. Afier about 5 years, they replaced the M&P's with 9 mm FN 509's. Much better. That company used to have approximately 5,000 employees carrying guns in the US. Quite a cost to change guns for them.
They offered the M&P's to us at a reduced price. Out of our 50 employee branch only 2 decided to buy them. My only 40 is a Glock 22.
