.40 Sigma HORRENDOUSLY inaccurate

Why do people buy a Sigma expecting the trigger to be light? There are tons and tons of threads about how the trigger sucks. The Sigma needs a good shooter because if you lack proper trigger control your shots will suffer.

The Sigma is plenty accurate to 20 yards and beyond, assuming you've started at 7 yards and worked your way back, slowly with patience. Shooting is the same as any other activity. You need to take your time to learn how to do it properly, correcting errors as they come BEFORE you move on to more difficult facets, like longer distance shooting.

Consider practicing WITHOUT using the sights by using instinct from 5 yards. Pick up the gun and WITHOUT using the sights, fire 5 shots at the target. If you aren't hitting at least 8s 9s and 10s, you may want to work on that before you even consider using the sights, to hone your natural abilities.

I'm not sure what your ultimate goal is with your firearm, but if it is home defense, consider that much of the time when a burglar wakes you and you go to investigate, it takes far too long to use your sights, especially if HE is armed as well.

I suggest using primarily the front sight when shooting without lining up the sights. Your instincts and natural abilities should allow the gun to shoot where you're pointing it without looking if you've practiced it enough.

I'm not in any way an expert... Just making suggestions based on observations I've made over the last 8 months of owning my Sigma 9mm. Yes, the trigger is heavy and long. Get used to it, get GOOD with it, and every other semiauto you pick up you'll be shooting straight 10s.

Took my girl to the range a couple months ago and she was shooting a .22 Ruger. After shooting about 80 rounds through my Sigma, I picked up Ruger and without using the sights blasted 9 rounds straight through the 10 at 7 yards.
You'll be surprised how much better honing your natural abilities will aid your sight usage, once you understand how YOU'RE reacting to the gun.

WOW!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Another "my sigma doesn't shoot as good as a Colt 1911" thread.

I've owned two Sigma 9mms and now own a Sigma in .357 Sig. The triggers on the 9s were not too bad but the .357 Sig is so bad that I quit shooting after one mag. My nephew has a Sigma 9mm and a .40 and he likes his 40 much more than the 9mm. He says it's much more accurate. But two weeks ago he bought a 1943 WWII Ithica 1911-A1 and he says it is more accurate than both Sigmas. Go figure?

Should have benched it instead of just giving up on it. I've bought several firearms that needed some extra work and i learn something new every time.

Too bad.

I've said it before and I'll say it again...
I actauly LIKE the trigger on sigmas. As far as I can figure, if you can learn to shoot properly with a sigma with a 14lb trigger then you will be able to shoot with anything that you pick up. My newest exercise involves my new TDR911 laser and dry fireing keeping it as stead as possible... it really shows just how much I move...

Since 2008 over 3000 rounds thru my Sigma .40 no issues yet no misfires or FTF..Also added the crimson trace laser sight. My eyes are shot have bifocals and am 65 years old. The laser helps to learn how much trigger jerk you cause when you fire the Sigma..
If you realize the Sigma trigger is like a double action revolver, that may help. Also I don't WANT a TOUCHY trigger,. I fired off 3 rounds on a SA -XD .45 because the trigger was so light. May kill someone you don't want to with that setup. The adrenalin of the situation will take care of the heavy trigger pull. All you need to do is learn smooth activation on the trigger.
if you learn to activate the trigger smoothly you can be as good as anyone.. See the target. If that is not enough I have a video on you tube where I shoot right handed then left handed.. Then adjusted the laser for 2in too much to the right. see the target for final results. And I am ----OLD------Oh forgot to add have had Both right and left shoulder Rotator Cuff surgery, Lt elbow micro surgery, and right hand cut open, bones removed and surgery to allow wrist to bend. Its ALL in the trigger pull guys......

This is at 25 feet using the sights. I have a hurt right shoulder so sometimes I'll have a twitch thus the three shots on the right.

Here is a small exercise that can help you with trigger control.

1. Get a 22LR shell
2. Balance the shell near the front site on it's end
3. Take aim at a target
4. Slowly squeeze the trigger

Do this exercise until you can dry-fire your weapon with out the 22LR falling off. It will help

May be someone should have got the "Trigger Enhancement" kit.:D
